The Indian Institute of Management Amritsar invites online applications from eligible Indian citizens for engagement as a Research Associate on a purely temporary and project-based (contractual) basis, under the Institute-sponsored research project titled “Migration, Networks and Employability”. The engagement is purely project-based and confers no right to regular appointment in the Institute.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Supports the Principal Investigator in designing, executing and analysing a study on rural-origin first-generation graduates and their transition into urban labour markets.
• Conducts literature review and synthesis on rural-urban migration, career inaction and graduate employability.
• Develops and pilot tests survey instruments and social-network measures.
• Identifies and recruits eligible participants across selected urban locations.
• Coordinates longitudinal panel data collection and participant follow-ups.
• Maintains accurate participant and study records.
• Supports data cleaning, coding and preliminary statistical analysis.
• Prepares qualitative interview protocols, and handles scheduling, transcription, coding and thematic analysis where applicable.
• Maintains research documentation.
• Ensures adherence to ethical and data-protection protocols.
• Contributes to research reports, presentations and academic outputs.

General terms

• The engagement is purely temporary and project-specific.
• It shall automatically cease upon expiry of the tenure or completion of the project, unless specifically extended by the Competent Authority.
• It shall not confer any claim for regular appointment, absorption or continuation in the Institute.
• Mere fulfilment of the minimum eligibility criteria does not entitle a candidate to be called for the selection process.
• The Institute reserves the right to shortlist candidates on the basis of higher qualifications, relevant experience and suitability for the project.
• The selected candidate must be willing to travel for fieldwork.
