Deadline extended: vide Corrigendum dated 23 September 2026, the last date for submission of online applications for the post of Research Assistant under the project “SARBAT-GIG: Socioeconomic, Algorithmic, Risk & Benefits Assessment and Transition of Platform Work in Punjab” has been extended up to 30/09/2026 by 05:30 PM (originally 23/09/2026). All other terms and conditions of the advertisement remain unchanged, and candidates who have already applied need not apply again.

The Indian Institute of Management Amritsar invites online applications from eligible Indian citizens for engagement as a Research Assistant on a purely temporary and contractual (project-based) basis. The engagement is purely project-based and confers no right to regular appointment in the Institute.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Works under the Principal Investigator on a mixed-methods research project examining the socioeconomic, algorithmic, risk and benefits dimensions of platform/gig work in Punjab.
• Supports literature review.
• Supports research instrument development.
• Coordinates fieldwork.
• Collects survey and interview data.
• Handles data cleaning and data management.
• Performs quantitative and qualitative data analysis.
• Maintains research documentation.
• Prepares academic and policy-oriented outputs.
• Undertakes field visits across Punjab.
• Interacts with gig workers and other stakeholders.
• Coordinates with field teams.
• Contributes to the preparation of policy briefs, teaching cases, the Punjab Gig Economy Dashboard, anonymised datasets, and academic publications.

General terms

• The engagement is purely temporary and project-specific.
• It shall automatically cease upon expiry of the tenure or completion of the project, unless specifically extended by the Competent Authority.
• It shall not confer any claim for regular appointment, absorption or continuation in the Institute.
• Mere fulfilment of the minimum eligibility criteria does not entitle a candidate to be called for the selection process.
• The Institute reserves the right to shortlist candidates on the basis of higher qualifications, relevant experience and suitability for the project.
• The selected candidate must be willing to travel for fieldwork.
• Incomplete applications, or applications received after the prescribed closing date, will be summarily rejected.
• No TA/DA is admissible for the written/skill test and/or interview.
• Canvassing in any form will lead to disqualification.
• The Institute reserves the right to modify, cancel or withdraw the advertisement, or not to fill the position, without assigning any reason; its decision shall be final and binding.
