Scientist C – Rolling Advertisement for Faculty Positions (RGCB/Advt./Sci/01/2026)

BRIC-Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology (RGCB), a National Institute of the Biotechnology, Research & Innovation Council (BRIC), Department of Biotechnology, Ministry for Science & Technology, Government of India, invites applications from early career scientists (Indian citizens) with potential for intellectual leadership to set up independent multidisciplinary research programmes.

Minimum Research Experience and Publication Record

  • Relevant post-doctoral experience in subject areas with peer reviewed high quality publications both as first and as co-author.
  • Product development scientists must have excellent track records in technology development, patents, track record of transferring to industry and commercialization.

Research Areas

Including but not restricted to: cell engineering solutions; novel molecular diagnostics and nano-biotechnology for cancer care; therapeutic targets and targeted drug discovery using cellular, molecular, preclinical models and computational (AI/ML) approaches; bioengineering for cell therapy, vaccines and immuno-therapeutics; innovative bio-therapeutics and drug-antibody conjugates; devices, biosensors and diagnostic pathology; cardiovascular disease and diabetes biology; plant biotechnology & disease biology with focus on spice genomics; basic and experimental cancer research focusing on cancer genomics; pathogen biology; neurobiology; and regenerative medicine and tissue engineering.

Selection Procedure

  • Level 1 Screening – an Institutional Screening Committee (ISC) determines whether the applicant meets the minimum prescribed qualifications. Ineligible applicants are rejected without further correspondence.
  • Level 2 Screening – a Faculty Screening Committee (FSC) reviews credentials, publications and achievements, then forwards recommendations to the Scientist Selection Committee (SSC).
  • Final Selection – the SSC interacts with shortlisted applicants, assesses long-term career goals and value to the institute, and decides which grade of scientist to offer.

General Conditions

  • This is a rolling advertisement; recruitment is based on available vacant positions at that time. No specific deadline exists – applications are accepted throughout the year, but for this quarter applications may be submitted till 30 November 2026.
  • Age, qualifications and experience are reckoned as on the last date of receipt of applications. Relaxations follow Govt. of India and BRIC-RGCB rules, with relaxation for outstanding candidates or those already holding analogous positions.
  • Candidates must be citizens of India. Valid OBC non-creamy layer certificate, SC/ST Community Certificate, or EWS Income & Asset Certificate are required for reserved posts; applications without these documents cannot be considered against reserved positions.
  • Salary and benefits as per Government of India & BRIC-RGCB rules, including dearness allowance, HRA, transport allowance, leave travel concession and NPS. Reimbursement of children's education allowance and medical expenses is also admissible.
  • The application must be submitted through the online portal; no other form of application is accepted. There is no application fee.
  • Selected candidates may be posted in any office/branch of the Institute anywhere in India. Canvassing entails automatic disqualification. Incomplete applications or those received after the last date are rejected.
