• Advertisement: Advt. No. 04 OF 2026-27 (Ref. No. (DR-IV)(2PF-01-2026/27)), Dt. 18.07.2026, OPSC - recruitment to the posts of Veterinary Assistant Surgeon / Additional Veterinary Assistant Surgeon in Group-A (Junior Branch-II) of Odisha Veterinary Service under the Fisheries and Animal Resources Development Department, Government of Odisha, as per Odisha Veterinary Service (Method of Recruitment and Conditions of Service) Rules, 2021 and its Amendment Rules, 2022.
• Total Vacancies: 436 Posts (144 for Women) - ALL are Backlog Vacancies. Category-wise: SEBC 62 (20-W), SC 141 (47-W), ST 233 (77-W). Besides, 18 (06-W) posts are reserved for Persons with Disabilities (permanent disability 40% or more) and 04 (01-W) posts for Sports Persons, which shall be adjusted against the categories to which they belong.
• Age Limit (as on 01.01.2026): Minimum 21 years and maximum 47 years (born not earlier than 02.01.1979 and not later than 01.01.2005), as the recruitment is conducted only for SEBC/SC & ST categories. PwD candidates of SEBC/SC/ST with permanent disability 40% or more are eligible for age relaxation of 10 years over and above 47 years. No other age relaxation is permitted.
• Educational Qualification: Bachelor's Degree in Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry (B.V.Sc. & A.H.) or its equivalent from any recognized University/College/Institution in India or abroad; Conversion Certificates recognized by Veterinary Council of India (VCI) in case of degrees from foreign universities; and valid Registration Certificate under the Odisha Veterinary Practitioners Act, 1970 (Section 21) on or before the last date of submission of the online application form.
• Pay Scale: Rs. 56,100/- (Level 12, Cell-1 of Pay Matrix under Rule-3 of ORSP Rules, 2017) with usual Dearness and other Allowances as sanctioned by the Government of Odisha from time to time.
• Selection Process: On the basis of Written Examination only (Total 800 Marks). No Viva Voce/Interview.
• Written Examination: Held on 26.09.2026 (Saturday) at Cuttack/Bhubaneswar. Two papers, each 400 marks (Total 800): Paper-I (Veterinary Science) - 200 MCQ questions, 2½ hours; Paper-II (Animal Science) - 200 MCQ questions, 2½ hours. Objective & subject-specific questions.
• Paper-I (Veterinary Science) - 9 units: Veterinary Medicine, Veterinary Gynaecology and Obstetrics, Veterinary Pharmacology and Toxicology, Veterinary Parasitology, Veterinary Anatomy, Veterinary Public Health, Veterinary Surgery and Radiology, Veterinary Pathology, Veterinary Microbiology.
• Paper-II (Animal Science) - 7 units: Veterinary Physiology, Veterinary Biochemistry, Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Extension, Animal Nutrition, Livestock Products Technology, Livestock Production and Management, Animal Genetics and Breeding.
• Document Verification: Where the number of vacancies is up to 02, 05 candidates will be called for document verification; where vacancies exceed 02, twice the number of vacancies will be called. Final merit list will equal the number of advertised vacancies.
• Application Fee: Rs. 700/- online for candidates other than SC/ST/PwD (as per Odisha Payment of Recruitment Examination Fees and Refund Rules, 2025). SC/ST/PwD exempt. Fee refunded only to candidates who actually appear in both papers of the Written Examination, to the original mode of payment.
• Other Conditions: Must be a citizen of India; able to read, write and speak Odia (M.E. School/Matriculation/Class-VII Odia or Odia Test pass); sound health; NOC for Government servants at the time of document verification; NPS application mandatory for recommended candidates.

The link for registration and payment of examination fee shall be available from 24.07.2026 to 24.08.2026 till 5.00 P.M. (24.08.2026 5:00 P.M. is the last date/closing date for submission of the Registered Online Application). Candidates should register to obtain a Permanent Public Service Account Number (PPSAN), fill the proforma application, upload scanned latest passport size photograph, full signature and Left Hand Thumb Impression (LTI) along with self-attested copies of documents.
