Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) has published a recruitment notification (Advt No. 04 of 2026-27) for the recruitment of 436 Veterinary Assistant Surgeon / Additional Veterinary Assistant Surgeon posts under the Fisheries & Animal Resources Development Department, Government of Odisha.

Odisha Public Service Commission Eligibility Criteria 2026

• Qualification: Bachelor's degree in Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry (B.V.Sc. & A.H.) or equivalent degree from a recognized University/College/Institution in India or abroad.
• Registration: Valid Registration Certificate under the Odisha Veterinary Practitioners Act, 1970 (Section 21) obtained on or before the last date of submission of the online application form.
• Age Limit: 21 to 47 years as on 01.01.2026 (born between 02.01.1979 and 01.01.2005). PwD candidates (SEBC/SC/ST with 40% or more permanent disability) get 10 years relaxation.
• Odia Language: Must be able to speak, read and write Odia and must have passed the required Odia test.
• SEBC Certificate: Must be issued not more than 03 years before the date of submission of the online application form.
• Pay Scale: Rs. 56,100/- (Level 12, Cell-1 of Pay Matrix under Rule-3 of ORSP Rules, 2017) plus Dearness and other allowances.

• Written Examination consisting of two papers (total 800 marks):
  • Paper-I (Veterinary Science): 200 questions, 400 marks, duration 2½ hours, Objective/MCQ type covering General Awareness and subject-specific topics.
  • Paper-II (Animal Science): 200 questions, 400 marks, duration 2½ hours, Objective/MCQ type.
• Document Verification: Candidates shortlisted based on written examination merit. Where vacancies are up to 2, 5 candidates will be called; where vacancies exceed 2, twice the number of vacancies will be called.
• Merit List: Final merit list prepared based on marks secured in the written examination.
• Medical Examination: Every selected candidate examined by a Medical Board before appointment.
• Date of Written Examination: 26.09.2026 (Saturday) at Kataka/Bhubaneswar.

Fees will be refunded to candidates who actually appear in both papers of the Written Examination.

How to Apply for Odisha Public Service Commission Recruitment 2026 (Online)

1. Visit the official website of OPSC at https://www.opsc.gov.in.
2. Register and fill the Online Application Form available on the OPSC website from 24.07.2026 to 24.08.2026 (5:00 P.M.).
3. Upload scanned image of latest passport size photograph, full signature, and Left-hand Thumb Impression (LTI).
4. Pay the examination fee of Rs. 700/- through online mode (SC/ST/PwD candidates exempted).
5. Furnish bank account details (Account Number, IFSC Code, Name of Account Holder, Name of Bank Branch) for refund purposes.
6. Submit the Online Application Form before the closing date of 24.08.2026 (5:00 P.M.) and take a printout for future use.
