Marine Engineer: MOT 1st Class Motor Certificate or MEO Class I Certificate under Merchant Shipping Act, 1958; one year post-qualification experience as Chief Engineer / 2nd Engineer on a foreign-going ship. Age: max 40 years.
Deputy Director (Research): Degree in Economics/Statistics/Mathematics; five years executive experience in planning/data collection/data interpretation/field surveys. Desirable: PG degree/diploma in relevant subject, computer knowledge. Age: max 35 years.
Age relaxation: PwBD 10 years for identified categories; SC/ST 5 years for posts reserved for SC/ST; ex-servicemen as per Government orders. Employees of Major Port Authorities may apply, age limit max 55 years.

Marine Engineer: Essential – MOT 1st Class Motor Certificate or MEO Class I Certificate issued under Merchant Shipping Act, 1958; 1 year post-qualification experience as Chief Engineer/2nd Engineer on foreign-going ship (prove via CDC or Seafarers profile from DG Shipping or experience certificate mentioning Flag, from/to dates and Foreign going/Coastal vessel).
Deputy Director (Research): Essential – Degree in Economics or Statistics or Mathematics; 5 years executive experience in Planning, data collection/compilation/interpretation or field surveys. Desirable – PG Degree/Diploma in Economics/Statistics/Mathematics/Operational Research; computer knowledge. Experience certificate in the notified proforma required.

Cochin Port Authority Marine Engineer & Deputy Director (Research) Direct Recruitment 2026
Cochin Port Authority (CoPA), an autonomous body under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, invites online applications for 6 Class-I posts on a regular basis by Direct Recruitment (Notification No. A9/DR/Cl.I & II/2025-S dated 31.07.2026).
Last date extended: The last date for submission of applications has been extended up to 03.09.2026, 5:00 PM vide Notice No. A9/DR/DD(R)/2026-S dated 01.09.2026. The crucial date for determining eligibility and all other terms and conditions remain unchanged. Candidates who have already applied need not apply again.

Eligibility Criteria
Marine Engineer: MOT 1st Class Motor Certificate or Marine Engineer Officer (MEO) Class I Certificate issued under the Merchant Shipping Act, 1958 (44 of 1958); one year post-qualification experience as Chief Engineer / 2nd Engineer on board a foreign-going ship.
Deputy Director (Research): Degree in Economics or Statistics or Mathematics from a recognised University/Institution; five years executive experience in Planning or in collection, compilation & interpretation of data or in conducting field surveys/investigations, etc. Desirable: PG Degree/Diploma in Economics/Statistics/Mathematics/Operational Research & allied subjects; knowledge of computer operations.
Selection Process
- Marine Engineer: Short listing of eligible candidates by ranking (85 marks) followed by Personal Interview (15 marks).
- Deputy Director (Research): Written test (70 marks) + Presentation (15 marks) + Personal Interview (15 marks).
- Final merit out of 100 marks (85% examination/shortlisting + 15% interview). Number of candidates called for interview: 6 to 12 times the number of vacancies.
Application Fee
Rs. 400/- (Rupees Four Hundred only). Candidates belonging to SC/ST who apply for posts specifically reserved for SC/ST are exempted from payment. Pay via State Bank Collect option "Cochin Port Trust" or the payment window in the application portal.
