WBPSC IDO 2026 — Important Dates

Eligibility — Qualification, Age and Bengali Requirement

• Qualification: a degree of a recognised university, or a Diploma in Engineering or Technology from a recognised institution — essential qualifications must be held by the application closing date.
• Age: not less than 18 years and not more than 44 years as on 1 January 2024 (age as recorded in the Madhyamik or equivalent certificate only). Relaxation: 5 years for SC/ST candidates of West Bengal, 3 years for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) of West Bengal, and up to 45 years for PwBD candidates with 40%+ disability. No relaxation for SC/ST/OBC candidates of other states.
• Bengali requirement: ability to read, write and speak Bengali is essential — not mandatory for candidates whose mother tongue is Nepali (unless specifically mentioned). The Bengali test is conducted at the interview; poor performance can lead to cancellation of candidature.
