Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA), an autonomous body under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, invites applications from eligible and willing officers of Major Port Authorities for 01 (one) post of Senior Deputy Secretary (Class-I) (Dy. HoD) in the scale of pay of Rs. 80,000–2,20,000 in the General Administration Department. The post is to be filled by absorption through Composite Method. The vacancy arose on 30.07.2024 (AN).

Eligibility Criteria
- Officers of all Major Port Authorities holding analogous posts or the post of Deputy Secretary and equivalent posts in the respective disciplines of the General Administration Department (such as CPRO / Deputy Estate Manager / Deputy Chief Law Officer / Personnel Officer) in the scale of Rs. 60,000–1,80,000 with three years' regular service in the grade; OR
- Deputy Secretary and equivalent posts with two years' regular service in the grade and a combined regular service of seven years in the scales of Rs. 50,000–1,60,000 and Rs. 60,000–1,80,000 in a Major Port Authority.
- For deputation: officers holding analogous posts or the post of Deputy Secretary/equivalent in the respective discipline in Government / Semi-Government / Public Sector Undertakings / autonomous bodies in the scale of Rs. 60,000–1,80,000 with three years' regular service in the grade.
Educational Qualification and Experience
- Bachelor's degree from a recognised University.
- Twelve years' experience in the executive cadre in the field of General Administration or Personnel or Industrial Relations in an industrial, commercial or Government undertaking.
Desirable: Post Graduate Degree or Diploma in Personnel Management or Industrial Relations or Social Work or Labour Welfare or allied subjects, or a Degree in Law from a recognised University or institute.
Age Limit
The upper age limit for direct recruitment is 42 years. The age limit is not applicable to absorption/deputation. The crucial date for determining eligibility is 21.11.2026.
Selection Process
Selection is by merit. The benchmark in overall grading in the Annual Confidential Report / APAR must not be below “Very Good”. The Services Selection Committee will assess the records and suitability of the officers.

- Self-undertaking that the candidature will not be withdrawn after selection (Annexure-IV).
- Complete statement of service details (Annexure-VI) and two recent passport-size photographs.
- Details of any major or minor penalty imposed during the last 10 years, with documents.
General Conditions
- The post is in the General Administration Department, VPA, and the selected officer will be governed by VPA service rules and the terms and conditions prescribed by the Central Government.
- Officers who withdraw their candidature after selection are liable to be debarred from future selection to Dy. HoD level posts in all Major Port Authorities for two years.
- Incomplete applications, late applications, or applications not received through proper channel will not be considered.
- VPA reserves the right to modify, cancel or postpone the recruitment at any stage.
