Overview
The Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences (SSUHS), Guwahati, has issued an Educational Notice for the ANM (Auxiliary Nurse Midwife) Entrance Examination, 2026 for admission into the ANM Course at Govt. ANM Training Schools of Assam for the session 2026-27. A total of 369 seats are to be filled across 11 Govt. ANM Training Schools. The entrance examination is scheduled for 11 October 2026 (Sunday). Admission to the ANM course is restricted to female candidates only.
Vacancies – 369 Seats across 11 Govt. ANM Training Schools
ANM Training School, GMCH Guwahati; Morigaon; Goalpara; Hailakandi; Dima Hasao; Jorhat; Sivasagar; Nagaon; Nalbari; Dhubri; and Kokrajhar. (School-wise seat distribution will be notified by the Directorate of Health Services (FW), Assam in due course.)

Eligibility Criteria
- Nationality: The candidate must be a citizen of India.
- Domicile: The candidate must be a permanent resident of Assam and furnish a certificate to this effect.
- Gender: Admission to the ANM course is restricted to female candidates only.
- Age Limit: Minimum age 17 years on or before 31 December of the year of admission; maximum age 35 years.
- Age Relaxation: 35 to 42 years for Anganwadi Workers, ASHA Workers and Trained Dias for admission to Govt. Multipurpose Health Worker Training Schools / ANM schools.
- Educational Qualification: 12 years of schooling (HS 10+2 course) recognized by CBSE / ICSE / SSSCE / HSCE or a recognized equivalent examination.
- Medical Fitness: Admission is subject to a satisfactory medical examination report.

- One paper comprising English, Mathematics and General Science of 10th standard; total 100 marks (50 questions × 2 marks each).
- No negative marking for wrong answers; unanswered questions carry zero marks.
- Questions will be bilingual in English & Assamese; the OMR Sheet must be filled in English only.
- Duration: 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM (1½ hours).
Merit List & Tie-breaking
The merit list is prepared on total marks obtained in the entrance examination. If two or more candidates score equal marks, inter-se merit is decided in the following order of preference:
- Candidates securing more marks in English in the entrance examination.
- Candidates securing more marks in General Science in the entrance examination.
- Candidates securing more marks in Mathematics in the entrance examination.
- If marks still tally, English marks of the qualifying examination shall be considered at the time of counselling.
Application Fee
A requisite, non-refundable entrance examination fee has to be paid by candidates only in online mode through the payment gateway available on the University website (www.ssuhs.ac.in). The fee is exempted for PwD (Divyang) candidates having disability of 40% and above. Fee amount shall be as per the University website / application portal.
Exam Centres
The entrance examination will be held at centres in Guwahati, Dibrugarh, Silchar, Tezpur and Dhubri.
Admit Card & Application Number
- Admit Cards will be available online from 1 October 2026 and can be downloaded after login.
- Candidates must keep a record of the Application Number and Password used while submitting the form — without these, the Admit Card cannot be downloaded.

- Apply online through the University website www.ssuhs.ac.in between 15-09-2026 and 27-09-2026.
- Pay the entrance examination fee online; then submit the application and note the Application Form Number & Password.
- Do not send any documents by post — all verification/scrutiny of eligibility and reservation is done at the time of counselling.
All applicants shall be provisionally allowed to appear for the examination; eligibility is scrutinised by the competent authority at the time of counselling after declaration of result. Any false/incomplete information leads to disqualification.
