Essential Academic Qualification (as on 31.12.2026)
Graduation in any discipline from a recognised University or any equivalent qualification recognised by the Central Government. Candidates in the final year/semester of graduation may also apply, provided they produce proof of having passed the graduation examination on or before 31.12.2026.
Age Limit (as on 01.04.2026)
Minimum 20 years and maximum 28 years (born not earlier than 02.04.1998 and not later than 01.04.2006). Relaxation in upper age limit: OBC – 3 years; SC/ST – 5 years; PwBD (Gen/EWS) – 10 years; PwBD (OBC) – 13 years; PwBD (SC/ST) – 15 years; Ex-Servicemen and others as per Government rules. Cumulative age relaxation is not permitted.

Pay scale: ₹24,050 – 1,340/3 – 28,070 – 1,650/3 – 33,020 – 2,000/4 – 41,020 – 2,340/7 – … The starting basic pay is ₹26,730/- (₹24,050/- plus two advance increments for graduates). Total starting emoluments of a Clerical Cadre employee are approximately ₹46,000/- per month at a Metro centre such as Mumbai, inclusive of allowances (Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance, City Compensatory Allowance, etc.).
State Bank of India Selection Process 2026
- Phase I – Preliminary Examination: online objective test (tentatively September 2026).
- Phase II – Main Examination: online objective + descriptive test (tentatively November 2026).
- Phase III – Local Language Proficiency Test: for candidates who did not study the opted local language at 10th/12th standard; conducted after provisional selection, before joining.
Marks obtained in the Preliminary Examination are not added to the final merit. The final merit list is drawn State-wise and category-wise, and selected candidates are posted in the State for which they applied.
