The Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) have released the Centralised Employment Notification (CEN) No. 04/2026 for recruitment to the posts of Junior Engineer (JE), Depot Material Superintendent (DMS) and Chemical & Metallurgical Assistant (CMA) across Indian Railways. This is one of the largest technical recruitment drives of 2026, offering eligible candidates a prestigious career in the Indian Railways with Pay Level-6 benefits under the 7th Central Pay Commission.

Salary / Pay Scale

In addition to basic pay, selected candidates are entitled to Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Transport Allowance, Railway Pass Facility, Medical Benefits, Pension under NPS, and other allowances as per Railway rules.

Educational Qualifications

Note: Candidates must have completed the qualifying degree / diploma from a recognised university / institute. Final-year students who are yet to pass may also apply, but they must produce the final mark sheet / certificate at the time of Document Verification.

Payment Mode: Online via Debit Card, Credit Card, Internet Banking, UPI, or e-Challan (if applicable).

Selection Process

The selection will be carried out in the following stages:

1. First Stage Computer-Based Test (CBT-1): Screening stage – marks not counted for final merit (only qualifying in nature).
2. Second Stage Computer-Based Test (CBT-2): Merit-based – marks will be considered for final selection.
3. Document Verification (DV): Verification of original certificates and documents.
4. Medical Examination: As per Railway Medical Standards for the respective post.

Negative Marking: 1/3rd (0.33) mark is deducted for each wrong answer in both CBT-1 and CBT-2.

Minimum Qualifying Marks (CBT-2): UR: 40%, OBC-NCL/EWS: 30%, SC/ST: 25% (relaxed as per Board discretion).

Medical Standards

Candidates must meet the prescribed physical and medical standards as per the Railway Medical Manual.

How to Apply

Eligible and interested candidates can apply online through the official RRB recruitment portal once the application window opens (14 August 2026). Follow these steps:

1. Visit the official RRB application website: rrbapply.gov.in or the respective Regional RRB website.
2. Click on the "Apply Online for CEN No. 04/2026" link.
3. Complete the One-Time Registration (OTR) if not already registered.
4. Fill in the online application form with personal details, educational qualifications, and post preferences.
5. Upload scanned copies of photograph, signature, and required certificates (as per specifications).
6. Pay the application fee online through Debit Card / Credit Card / Internet Banking / UPI.
7. Review the application carefully and submit.
8. Download and take a printout of the submitted application form and fee receipt for future reference.

• This is an Indicative / Short Notice. The detailed CEN containing complete eligibility criteria, category-wise vacancy distribution, exam centres, and syllabus will be released separately.
• Candidates must ensure that they satisfy all eligibility conditions before applying. Any candidate found ineligible at any stage of the recruitment process will be summarily disqualified.
• RRB reserves the right to modify the number of vacancies, exam dates, and selection procedure as per administrative requirements.

• Candidates can apply against only one RRB based on their state of domicile / preference as per the official instructions.
• Aadhaar-based authentication may be used for identity verification throughout the recruitment process.

• No TA / DA will be paid for attending CBT-1 or CBT-2. Selected candidates will be eligible for travelling allowance for Document Verification as per rules.
