National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK), Surathkal, invites applications from eligible Indian nationals for the post of Project Assistant in the Department of Water Resources & Ocean Engineering (WROE) on a project sponsored by the Vision Group on Science & Technology (VGST), Government of Karnataka (Ref. No. 06/NITK/WROE/VGST/SHR/2026-27/A21 dated 31.07.2026).

Project & Details

• Project Title: Quantitative retrieval and spatio-temporal analysis of soil quality parameters using Geospatial datasets and machine learning techniques in Western Plains and Ghat regions of Karnataka.
• Funding Agency: VGST, Government of Karnataka.
• Principal Investigator: Dr. Shwetha H R.
• Project Duration: 12 months or until project completion, whichever is earlier.
• Location: NITK Surathkal, Karnataka.

Essential Qualification

• M.Tech in Geoinformatics/Remote Sensing and GIS/Water Resources Engineering/Hydrology/Agricultural Engineering OR
• M.Sc in Geoinformatics/Remote Sensing/Computer Science/Information Technology/Information Science with first class (min 60% or 6.5/10 CGPA) OR
• B.E./B.Tech in Civil Engg/Agricultural Engg/Computer Science/IT/Information Science or other relevant fields with first class (min 60% or 6.5/10 CGPA).

Preference

Knowledge of Hyperspectral and Microwave Remote Sensing, AI-ML applications, technical writing skills, coding experience.
