CSIR-North East Institute of Science and Technology (NEIST), Jorhat, Assam – a premier institute under the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), an autonomous body of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt. of India – invites online applications from Indian citizens for the following Administrative posts (Junior Secretariat Assistant, Junior Stenographer & Junior Hindi Translator).

Essential Qualifications
- Junior Stenographer (JST): 10+2/XII or its equivalent with proficiency in stenography as per the prescribed norms fixed by DoPT from time to time.
- Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA): 10+2/XII or its equivalent with proficiency in computer typing speed and in using computers as per the prescribed norms fixed by DoPT from time to time (English typing @ 35 wpm / Hindi typing @ 30 wpm for 10 minutes).
- Junior Hindi Translator (JHT): Master's degree of a recognized University or equivalent in Hindi or English (with English or Hindi as compulsory/elective subject or as medium of examination at degree level) OR Master's degree in any subject with Hindi/English as compulsory/elective subject or medium at degree level, AND a recognized Diploma/Certificate course in translation from Hindi to English & vice-versa OR two years' experience of translation work from Hindi to English and vice-versa in Central/State Government offices, including Government of India undertakings.
Selection Process
- Junior Stenographer: Competitive Written Examination (200 questions – General Intelligence & Reasoning 50, General Awareness 50, English Language & Comprehension 100; 0.25 negative marking) followed by Proficiency Test in Stenography (dictation @ 80 w.p.m. for 10 minutes; transcription 50 minutes English / 65 minutes Hindi). Proficiency test is qualifying in nature; final merit on written examination.
- Junior Secretariat Assistant: Proficiency Test in Computer Typing (English 35 wpm / Hindi 30 wpm) and Competitive Written Examination – Paper-I Mental Ability Test (100 questions, 200 marks, qualifying) and Paper-II General Awareness (50 questions, 150 marks) + English Language (50 questions, 150 marks) with one negative mark each. Final merit on Paper-II.
- Junior Hindi Translator: Open written competitive examination – Paper-I (OMR/CBT objective type: General Intelligence 50 questions, Quantitative Aptitude 25 questions, General Awareness 25 questions; one negative mark each) and Paper-II (descriptive, 02 hours). Paper-I qualifying; final merit on Paper-II.
Application Fee
Rs 500/- for General/OBC/EWS candidates through SBI Collect. SC/ST/PwBD/Ex-Servicemen/Women/CSIR Employees are exempted from payment of application fee.
Age Relaxation
Age relaxation as per CSIR/GoI norms – SC/ST by 05 years (posts reserved for them), OBC (NCL) by 03 years (posts reserved for them), PwBD by 10 years (15 years for SC candidates), Ex-Servicemen by 03 years after deduction of military service, and widowed/divorced/women judicially separated up to 35 years. There is no age limit for CSIR departmental (permanent) candidates.
