National Insurance Company Nagpur Regional Office – Empanelment of Advocates and Investigators 2026

National Insurance Company Limited (NIC), Nagpur Regional Office – TP Claims Hub, has invited applications for empanelment of Advocates for forum matters and Investigators for third-party (TP) claims. The advertisement is dated 19 October 2026 and the last date to apply is 09 November 2026.

1. Advocates – Forum Matters

Qualification

• 3-year or 5-year law degree from a university or college recognised by the Bar Council of India (BCI) and the University Grants Commission (UGC).
• Enrolled as an advocate with the Bar Council of the respective State.
• Certificate of practice obtained from the Bar Council.

Experience

• Minimum 3 years of post-enrolment experience for representation before the District Consumer Commission, Civil Courts, Commercial Courts, EC and other courts; minimum 5 years for the State Consumer Commission.
• Retired officials of Public Sector Undertakings from the insurance sector with at least 5 years of legal department experience may be considered after a waiting period of 1 year post superannuation or resignation, subject to meeting the qualification criteria.
• Experience in handling insurance cases should be 2, 3 and 5 years respectively for the above categories.

Supporting documents

Copy of the law degree certificate, Bar Council licence (State Bar Council registration), certificate of practice from the Bar Council of India, PAN card and a document evidencing proof of address, previous empanelment certificates if applicable, and any other document decided by the Committee or Competent Authority.

Scope of work

• Representing the company before consumer commissions, civil courts, arbitration tribunals, commercial courts and appellate forums.
• Drafting and filing of written statements, counter-affidavits, rejoinders, replies and cross-examination of witnesses of the other side.
• Legal opinions on claim repudiation, settlement and appeals.
• Attending hearings and arguing cases before judicial and quasi-judicial bodies, and assisting in mediation and out-of-court settlements as per company directives.
• Updating and reporting case status to the legal department, and assisting in recovery of dues and refunds relating to statutory deposits made before courts.

Empanelment process

• Eligible applicants are called for an interview session with the empanelment committee, which assesses legal expertise, understanding of insurance law and case-handling history. Final selection is by the committee based on the interview and the evaluation of applications.
• Selected advocates must sign a declaration confirming compliance with NIC's legal engagement terms, acknowledgement of the fee structure guidelines, and non-engagement in any conflict-of-interest case against NIC.
• Empanelled advocates have to apply again after 3 years; renewal is based on a Performance Appraisal System, although they continue to handle cases already allotted to them.
• Remuneration and fees shall be as per company guidelines.

2. Investigators – Third Party Claims

• Minimum qualification: Higher Secondary Certificate (H.S.C.) or equivalent examination. Preference will be given to graduates and candidates possessing higher educational qualifications.
• Preference categories: Junior Advocates, retired police personnel, ex-servicemen, and retired employees of the Central or State Government or any Public Sector Undertaking (PSU).
• Applicants should preferably possess experience or aptitude in field investigation, verification of documents, collection of evidence and preparation of investigation reports, particularly in Motor Third Party claim matters.

Empanelment is subject to the company's prescribed terms and the approval of the competent authority, confers no right to allotment of cases, and the company reserves the right to accept or reject any application without assigning reasons.
