Overview

Madhya Pradesh Employees Selection Board (MPESB), Bhopal has released the notification for the Naib Tehsildar Departmental Limited Competitive Examination 2026 for 73 Naib Tehsildar posts. This is a limited departmental recruitment exam open only to eligible serving employees of the Revenue Mandal, Commissioner Land Records, Principal Revenue Commissioner, Divisional Commissioner and Collector establishments under the MP Revenue Department, specifically from the clerical service cadre and the Patwari/Revenue Inspector cadre. Online applications will be accepted from 17.09.2026 to 01.10.2026 through the official website www.esb.mp.gov.in.

Vacancy Details

The 73 Naib Tehsildar posts are divided between two feeder cadres. Candidates from the clerical service cadre compete for one set of posts, while candidates from the Patwari/Revenue Inspector cadre compete for a separate set; each cadre also has its own backlog posts.

Clerical Service Cadre (46 posts)

Within the 32 direct-recruitment clerical-cadre posts, 1 post is reserved for persons with locomotor disability as part of the overall PwD reservation policy, and 35% of posts across categories are horizontally reserved for women.

Patwari/Revenue Inspector Cadre (27 posts)

As per the notification, 35% of posts are horizontally reserved for women in each category, applied both segment-wise and department-wise. Unfilled women-quota posts are filled by male candidates of the same category instead of being carried forward.

Eligibility Criteria

This recruitment is open only to current employees of the specified MP Revenue Department establishments who meet all of the following conditions:

• Currently working on a regular or officiating basis for at least 5 years in a clerical-cadre post, or as a Patwari/Revenue Inspector, in the Revenue Mandal, Commissioner Land Records, Principal Revenue Commissioner, Divisional Commissioner or Collector establishments (including Sub-Divisional Officer (Revenue) and Tehsil offices under Collector establishments).
• Holds a Bachelor degree in Arts, Science (including Technical and Engineering), Commerce or Agriculture from a recognised university.
• Maximum age as on 01.01.2026 should not exceed 55 years.
• A candidate cannot appear in this exam under this scheme more than three times.

Candidates must possess the minimum educational qualification on the date of submitting the application; qualifications acquired after this date will not be considered for eligibility.

Salary Details

Selected candidates will be placed at Pay Level-9 of the Madhya Pradesh Pay Revision Rules, 2017 pay matrix, with a starting basic pay of Rs. 36,200 plus applicable Dearness Allowance. The overall pay range for the post is Rs. 36,200 - Rs. 1,14,800 (Level-9).

Application Fee

The notification does not specify any fee concession for reserved categories under this scheme. The fee can be paid online via debit/credit card, net banking, or in cash through an authorised MP Online kiosk.

Selection Process

Selection is based purely on a written examination consisting of two objective-type papers, each carrying 100 marks and lasting 2 hours.

Candidates need a minimum of 55% marks to qualify; SC and ST candidates need a minimum of 40% marks. Each correct answer carries 1 mark, and 0.25 marks are deducted for every wrong answer. Where the exam is conducted across multiple shifts, MPESB uses a Normalised Equi-Percentile scaling method to prepare the merit list.

How to Apply

1. Visit www.esb.mp.gov.in or www.mponline.gov.in and go to Citizen Services to open the ESB application form.
2. Read the notification, eligibility conditions and instructions carefully before proceeding.
3. Click Continue to start the online application form and fill in all required personal, educational and service details accurately.
4. Upload your colour photograph, signature and handwriting declaration in the specified format, along with caste/disability certificate and appointment order where applicable.
5. Pay the Rs. 2,000 application fee (plus applicable portal charge) via debit/credit card, net banking, or an authorised MP Online kiosk.
6. Review the completed form and submit. Save/print the application form and payment receipt for your records.
7. Use the correction window (17.09.2026 to 06.10.2026) if you need to fix any error, subject to the applicable correction fee.

Important Instructions

• Only one application form should be submitted per candidate.
• Aadhaar registration is mandatory, and Aadhaar-based biometric verification will be conducted at the exam centre.
• Candidates must carry the downloaded admit card and an original photo ID to the exam hall.
• Electronic devices, calculators and smartwatches are strictly prohibited inside the exam hall.
• No domicile certificate is required since this is a departmental limited exam for currently serving employees.
• The exam city/centre is allotted based on availability against the candidate’s preference and is not open to change requests.
