- B.E./B.Tech in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from a recognised university.
- 20 years’ experience in the power sector/utility/PSU/consultancy (deputation or contract, as applicable).
- Private-sector contract candidates: maximum age 55 years; retired officers: at least 2 years before 65.
- Age and experience reckoned as on 30.09.2026.

Eligibility
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from a recognised university. Specialisation in regulatory law is desirable.
- Deputation: minimum 20 years’ experience in a government-owned power sector/utility or PSU; officer holding an analogous post on a regular basis in Central/State Government or a PSU.
- Contract – retired officer: minimum 20 years in the power sector, including at least 3 years at Level 15 of the MP 7th Pay Matrix or Grade Pay Rs 8,700 (6th CPC); post-retirement power-sector experience is also counted. Must have at least two years left before attaining 65 years.
- Contract – private sector professional: minimum 20 years’ experience in a power-sector organisation/company/consulting firm, holding or having held a substantive/officiating position; experience in regulatory affairs, tariff determination or commercial functions in a power utility/consultancy. Maximum age 55 years.
- Selection will be made by the Commission; the decision of the Commission is final.
