MERC CGRF Independent Member Job Details & Overview
The Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission has decided to fill up 2 posts of Independent Member of the Consumer Grievance Redressal Forum at Amravati Circle and Wardha Circle, under Section 42(5) of the Electricity Act, 2003. Appointment, terms of service and functioning are governed by the MERC (Consumer Grievance Redressal Forum & Ombudsman) Regulations, 2020 and the First Amendment Regulations, 2024.
- Total posts: 2 – Independent Member, CGRF, Amravati Circle (1 post) and Wardha Circle (1 post), under MSEDCL
- Remuneration: Rs.35,000 per month at each location, inclusive of sitting fees, honorarium, conveyance, telephone and all other allowances; statutory taxes will be deducted at source
- Eligibility: at least ten years of experience working on matters concerning consumer grievances
- The candidate must be well conversant with the Marathi language
- Preference will be given to candidates recommended by a registered voluntary consumer protection organisation or a registered NGO working on consumer grievance matters, or by the Chairperson of a CGRF, and to persons residing in the same area as the CGRF location
- The candidate must not have been in the employment of, or an agency of, the Distribution Licensee, and must not have provided consultancy services to electricity consumers, for at least three years before appointment
- Term: three years, extendable by the Commission for a further period not exceeding two years, subject to an overall age limit of 65 years
- Additional charge of Chairperson or of another CGRF carries 25% additional remuneration plus TA/DA at the rate applicable to a Chief Engineer
- Selection may be by interview conducted by MERC; applicants must give up to five preferred locations, and one application is enough even if applying for more than one location
