MERC CGRF Chairperson Recruitment 2026 – 33 Posts across Maharashtra

The Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission has decided to fill up 33 posts of Chairperson of the Consumer Grievance Redressal Forum at various locations in Maharashtra, under Section 42(5) of the Electricity Act, 2003. Appointment, terms of service and functioning are governed by the MERC (Consumer Grievance Redressal Forum & Ombudsman) Regulations, 2020 and the First Amendment Regulations, 2024.

• Total posts: 33 – MSEDCL 27 circles, plus one each at Gigaplex Estate Private Limited, Maharashtra Airport Development Company Ltd, Iskandar Power Ltd, SEZ Biotech Park-I Manjari (Pune), Adani Electricity Mumbai Ltd and EON Kharadi Infrastructure Pvt Ltd-I (Pune)
• MSEDCL circles: Palghar Small, Vasai, Pen, Malegaon, Dhule, Nandurbar, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Sangli, Satara, Chh. Sambhaji Nagar Rural, Nanded, Hingoli, Beed, Yavatmal, Buldhana, Washim, Nagpur Rural, Wardha, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Gondia, Bhandara, Nashik Urban, Rastapeth Urban, Kalyan-1 and Thane Urban
• Remuneration: Rs.40,000 per month at most locations and Rs.50,000 per month at the urban and private-licensee locations marked in the advertisement; the amount is inclusive of sitting fees, honorarium, conveyance, telephone and all other allowances
• Eligibility: a retired senior judicial officer; or a retired civil servant not below the rank of Additional Collector or equivalent; or a retired Principal of a reputed engineering college; or a retired Professor of the Electrical Engineering Department of a reputed institute; or a retired senior electrical engineer of the Government
• The Chairperson should preferably have a working knowledge of the vernacular language of Maharashtra
• Term: three years, extendable by the Commission for a further period not exceeding two years, subject to an overall age limit of 65 years
• Six posts fall vacant in January 2027 – Kalyan-1 Circle (05.01.2027), Rastapeth Urban Circle (06.01.2027), Nashik Urban Circle (09.01.2027), Thane Urban Circle (18.01.2027), Adani Electricity Mumbai Ltd (05.01.2027) and EON Kharadi Infrastructure Pvt Ltd-I (04.01.2027)
• Selection may be by interview conducted by MERC; the Commission may select a candidate for one of the locations chosen by the applicant or for any other vacant position
