📢 Overview

Madras School of Economics (MSE) invites applications from highly qualified and motivated scholars for faculty positions at all levels:

• Assistant Professor
• Associate Professor
• Professor

This is a rolling advertisement, valid for one year. However, there is an immediate requirement for the posts listed below.

🔎 Immediate Faculty Vacancies

1️⃣ Assistant Professor

Specialization:

• Macroeconomics / International Economics
• Vacancies: 1 Position

2️⃣ Associate Professor / Assistant Professor

Specialization:

• Data Science / Mathematics / Statistics / Finance
• Vacancies: 1 Position

3️⃣ Professor / Associate Professor

Specialization:

• Public Economics (Centre for Public Finance) – 1 Position
• Finance & Accounting – 1 Position

📘 Eligibility & Qualification Requirements

➡️ Professor

• Ph.D. in Economics or allied/relevant discipline.
• Evidence of high-quality research with at least 10 peer-reviewed publications.
• Minimum 10 years of teaching/research experience at the level of Assistant/Associate/Professor or equivalent.
• Must have successfully guided doctoral candidates.
• OR
• Distinguished professionals from industry/academia with a Ph.D. and significant contributions to the field.

➡️ Associate Professor

• Ph.D. in Economics or allied/relevant disciplines.
• Good academic record with at least 55% marks at Master’s level (or equivalent grade).
• Minimum 8 years of teaching/research experience at the level of Assistant Professor or equivalent.
• At least 7 publications in peer-reviewed journals.

➡️ Assistant Professor

• Full-time Ph.D. in Economics or allied areas.
• At least 2 publications, with one in a peer-reviewed journal.
• Master’s degree with 55% marks or equivalent.
• For foreign degrees, the university must be ranked within the Top 500 globally (QS / THE / ARWU).

Preference

For all positions, preference is given to candidates with publications in:

• ABDC journals
• Scopus-indexed journals
• Web of Science journals

💰 Salary & Benefits

Basic Pay (as per current scales)

Additional Benefits

• HRA: 30%
• Travel Allowance: ₹1800/-
• Dearness Allowance (DA): 58%
• EPF: 12% of basic + DA

• Academic Grant: ₹25,000 per year
• Performance-linked payments & consultancy provisions (as per MSE rules)

Professor of Practice

• Short-term appointment (6–12 months)
• Fixed pay up to the gross salary of a Professor depending on experience

📝 Additional Notes

• MSE may consider exceptional candidates even if not applied formally.
• May appoint candidates at lower positions if suitable applicants are unavailable.
• Ph.D. thesis submitted candidates may apply for Lecturer (consolidated pay ₹54,000/-).
• Only shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview (in-person/online).
