Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) - Engagement of Legal Expert on Contract 2026
- JNPA invites applications from eligible and competent persons for engagement as Legal Expert, purely on contract basis.
- Last date to apply: 09.10.2026. The application link and last date will be notified in the Career section of the JNPA website.
- Only Indian Nationals are eligible. No retired officers/deputationists will be engaged.

Eligibility
- Essential Qualification: Degree in Law from a recognised National/International University.
- Desirable: Master's degree in Corporate/Maritime Law; Post Graduate Degree/Diploma in HR Management.
- Essential Experience: 10 years' work experience in the Legal wing of Corporates. Proven track record in contract negotiation and drafting; in-depth experience in Litigation Management, Legal Advisory, Drafting & vetting of commercial contracts, MOU, BGs, tender vetting, Labour matters, Conveyancing, Land Acquisition & title verification, regulatory/sectoral/environmental compliance, preferably relating to the port and infrastructure sector.
- Desirable: Experience in Ports and Shipping Sector; practising experience as an Advocate.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Responsible for court cases and advising management for appropriate decisions in pursuing cases.
- Managing a team, establishing goals/objectives, managing performance and deliverables, development and mentoring staff.
- Advise and act on legal risk, policy development, litigation management, regulatory competence, contract negotiation, etc.
- Coordinate with relevant departments and Ministries for formulation and implementation of service policies.
Terms & Conditions
- Tenure: 1 year from date of joining. JNPA may terminate at any time without notice; resignation requires 1 month advance notice (else consolidated pay forfeited).
- Leave: weekly day off, closed/national holidays and casual leave as applicable to regular officers, with prior permission.
- Medical facilities in JNPA hospital (in-house, self only); residential quarters may be provided on Port as per availability on payment of user charges.
- No other assignment permitted during the contract; governed by the Official Secrets Act, 1923.
- TA/DA on official tour outside headquarters as per Annexure II. Contract subject to medical fitness.
