The Department of Hydro and Renewable Energy, Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee invites applications from Indian nationals for four project positions in the Centre of Excellence project on ultra low head and hydrokinetic turbines, under Principal Investigator Dr Arun Kumar.

Project Details

Job Description

• Preliminary assessment based on secondary data available from government sites and reports, visits to potential sites of ultra low head and hydrokinetic energy, and coordination and compilation with agencies holding details of canals, rivers, outfall structures and dam toe.
• Setting up of the laboratory, design of the hydrokinetic turbine, CFD simulation, and carrying out design, model test and fabrication of the prototype hydrokinetic turbine, data analysis and report preparation.
• CFD simulation of Francis/reversible pump turbines for development of standard procedures and guidelines, model testing and scientific report writing.
• Laboratory and field testing of ultra low head and screw turbines.
• Design and field testing of the hydrokinetic turbine and CFD simulation (pre- and post-processing) for the designed turbines.
• FEM analysis of turbine components for varying hydrodynamic loads, model and field testing of the ULH turbine, and definition of standard procedures and guidelines for CFD analysis and model testing.
