- Duration: 3 years or project completion, whichever is earlier; initially appointed for one year, renewed annually based on performance.

- Essential Qualification: Doctorate in Mechanical / Aerospace Engineering or Physics from a recognized institute; OR Master’s degree in Mechanical / Aerospace / Chemical Engineering / Physics with minimum CGPA 6.5/10 (or 65% marks); OR Bachelor’s degree in the same disciplines with minimum CGPA 6.5/10 (or 65% marks).
- Desirable: Strong fundamentals of Fluid Mechanics; research background in flapping-wing aerodynamics, insect flight, surface wettability, micro/nanofabrication.

Title: Investigations into moisture response and aerodynamics of small insects
Team: Dr. Chander Shekhar Sharma (PI), Dr. Navaneeth K Marath, Dr. Manish Agrawal
Flight of small insects can provide key inputs for the development of small unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV). This project aims to conduct a systematic study into the response of flying insects to atmospheric moisture – surface characterization, high-speed and microscopic imaging, observations of insect flight aerodynamics, data analysis and numerical investigations.
