Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Ropar – Department of Chemical Engineering, Rupnagar, Punjab 140001 invites applications for a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) position under the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF-ARG) sponsored project titled “Dynamic Response of Granular Materials Under High-Speed Impact: Theory and Simulation”. The project aims to understand the origin of drag forces experienced by a high-speed intruder moving through granular media, which can simultaneously exhibit solid, liquid and gas-like behaviour, through a combination of numerical simulations and theoretical modelling.
Essential qualifications
Master's degree in Chemical / Mechanical / Civil / Aerospace or relevant Engineering, or M.Sc. in Physics / Mathematics, with a GATE or CSIR UGC NET qualified score and at least 65% marks (or 6.5 CGPA).AND/OR
Bachelor's degree in Chemical / Mechanical / Civil / Aerospace or relevant Engineering with a good academic record – minimum CGPA 6.5 on a 10.0 scale (or 65% marks) – with a GATE / NET score.
Desirable: experience in DEM simulation, continuum mechanics, fluid mechanics, rheology or granular matter will be an added advantage. Deserving candidates may be considered for PhD admissions later, subject to institute requirements.
- Duration: three years in total, initially for one year, extendable based on the PI’s evaluation of performance.
- Salary: Rs. 37,000 + HRA per month. Suitable campus accommodation may be provided subject to availability.
