IIT (ISM) Dhanbad invites applications from Indian Nationals, Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs), Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs) and Foreign Nationals for the posts of Associate Professor / Professor (Advertisement No. 411002/1/2026-Dean(F)/2 dated 30 June 2026).
Total 60 vacancies: UR 24, SC 9, ST 5, OBC (NCL) 16, EWS 6. Out of 60 posts, 2 posts are reserved for Divyang candidates - 01 post for Locomotor disability (including leprosy cured, dwarfism, acid attack victims) and 01 post for Low vision only.
Posts are open across 17 departments: Applied Geology; Applied Geophysics; Chemical Engineering; Chemistry and Chemical Biology; Civil Engineering; Computer Science and Engineering; Electrical Engineering; Electronics Engineering; Environmental Science and Engineering; Fuel, Minerals and Metallurgical Engineering; Humanities and Social Sciences; Management Studies and Industrial Engineering; Mathematics and Computing; Mechanical Engineering; Mining Engineering; Petroleum Engineering; Physics.

Reservation as per GoI/MoE norms: SC-15%, ST-7.5%, OBC (NCL)-27%, EWS-10%, PwBD-4%. Women and PwD applicants encouraged to apply.
Pay (7th CPC): Associate Professor - Academic Pay Level 13A2, minimum basic pay Rs. 1,39,600/-; Professor - Academic Pay Level 14A, minimum basic pay Rs. 1,59,100/-; plus DA, HRA, Transport Allowance and other applicable allowances as per Institute rules.
Faculty support: Professional Development Allowance of Rs. 3.0 Lakhs in a three-year block, telephone reimbursement up to Rs. 2,000/- per month, medical facilities, Children Education Allowance, LTC, on-campus transit accommodation, computing facility, relocation reimbursement up to Rs. 1.25 Lakh, Faculty Mobility Program, sabbatical/special leave, etc.
Foreign nationals can be offered contractual appointment for up to five years, renewable thereafter. Political and security clearance may be necessary for individuals with foreign passports.
