Integral Coach Factory (ICF), Chennai (a Ministry of Railways undertaking) invites online applications for engagement as Act Apprentices under the Apprentices Act, 1961 & RBE No. 120/2015 dated 06.10.2015. A total of 990 apprenticeship slots are available across 9 trades — 320 for Ex-ITI candidates and 670 for freshers.

Educational Qualification

For Ex-ITI Candidates

• Passed Std X (10th) with minimum 50% marks in Science & Maths under 10+2 system (or equivalent).
• Must possess a National Trade Certificate / State Council for Vocational Training Certificate in the notified trade, issued by NCVT or SVT, of one year or above duration.

For Fresher Candidates

• Carpenter, Painter, Welder: Passed Std X (10th) with minimum 50% aggregate marks.
• Fitter, Electrician, Machinist: Passed Std X (10th) with minimum 50% marks in Science & Maths.
• MLT – Radiology / Pathology: Passed Std XII (10+2) with Physics, Chemistry & Biology.
• PASAA (Programming & System Administration Assistant): Passed Std X with NTC/NAC in IT / Computer Operator & Programming Assistant / Database System Assistant / Software Testing Assistant (1 year+).

Age Limit (as on 07.09.2026)

• Ex-ITI candidates: Minimum 15 years; maximum 24 years.
• Fresher candidates: Minimum 15 years; maximum 22 years.
• Age relaxation: +5 years for SC/ST, +3 years for OBC, +10 years for PwBD (all above upper limits).

Training Period

• Carpenter, Painter, Welder, PASAA: 1 year
• Fitter, Electrician, Machinist: 1 year
• MLT (Radiology & Pathology): 2 years

Stipend

Processing Fee

• Rs. 100/- + service charges (non-refundable) for General/OBC candidates.
• Nil for SC / ST / PwBD / Women candidates.

Eligibility – Residence

• Candidates must be residents of Tamil Nadu AND/OR registered with a local Employment Exchange falling under Tamil Nadu jurisdiction as on the last date of application.
• Exception: Wards of Railway employees are exempted from the TN residence requirement but must produce Railway ID/Service Certificate at document verification.

Selection / Merit List

The merit list will be prepared based on marks obtained in Std X (10th) examination. In case of equal marks, the older candidate will be preferred. For COVID pass candidates in Std X, proof of Std IX marks sheet or Std X half-yearly mark sheet signed by the Principal will be considered.

Mode of Engagement

Selected candidates will be engaged under the Apprentices Act, 1961 on a contract basis. They are required to execute a contract of apprenticeship before commencement of training. No employment is guaranteed on completion of apprenticeship training.

3. Fill in the online application form carefully, uploading a recent passport-size photograph (JPG/JPEG, max 200 KB).
4. Pay the processing fee (if applicable) through the online payment gateway.
5. Generate and save the acknowledgement form — a printout is required at the time of document verification.

Key Points to Note

• This is an apprenticeship training programme only — NO EMPLOYMENT IS GUARANTEED on completion of training.
• Candidates with higher qualifications (Degree/Diploma/Engineering) who have already completed an Act Apprenticeship are NOT eligible to apply (except MLT where 12th pass is the qualification).
• SC/ST/OBC candidates must enclose requisite caste certificates; PwBD candidates must enclose disability certificate.
• Canvassing in any form will disqualify the candidature.
• Accommodation and food are at the candidate's own cost; ICF does not provide any.
