Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar (Established by the State Legislature Act No. 21 of 1969) invites online applications from eligible candidates for various Teaching and Non-Teaching posts as per Advertisement No. 13/2026 dated 30.09.2026.

Eligibility

Officer on Special Duty

• Serving/Retired approved Principals of the affiliated colleges of Punjab State Universities, or Serving/Retired Professor of Universities.
• Appointment may initially be for a period of two years on contract basis, extendable on yearly basis upto the age of 70 years.
• Pay: Fixed pay or last pay drawn minus pension (for pensioners), whichever is lower.

Assistant Professor (Common / General Qualification)

• A good academic record (at least 2nd class with 50% marks at graduation level).
• A Master's degree with 55% marks (or equivalent grade) in the concerned/relevant/allied subject from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university.
• Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, the candidate must have cleared the NET conducted by the UGC or the CSIR, or a similar test accredited by the UGC, like SLET/SET, OR holds a Ph.D. degree in accordance with the UGC (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil./Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009 or 2016 – Ph.D. holders are exempted from NET/SLET/SET.
• Candidates registered for the Ph.D. programme prior to 11 July 2009 are governed by the then-existing Ordinances/Bye-laws and are exempted from NET/SLET/SET, provided the Ph.D. was awarded in regular mode, evaluated by at least two external examiners, an open viva voce conducted, two research papers published from the Ph.D. work (at least one in a refereed journal), and at least two papers presented in UGC/ICSSR/CSIR-sponsored conferences/seminars (certified by the Registrar or Dean Academic Affairs).
• OR a Ph.D. from a foreign university ranked among the top 500 in the world (QS, THE, or ARWU/Shanghai).
• NET/SLET/SET is not required for Masters programmes in disciplines where NET/SLET/SET is not conducted by UGC/CSIR.
• A relaxation of 5% (at both Bachelor's and Master's level) is allowed for SC/ST/OBC (Non-creamy Layer)/Differently Abled candidates. Good academic record means at least 2nd class with 50% marks at graduation.
• A relaxation of 5% (from 55% to 50%) is provided to Ph.D. holders who obtained their Master's degree prior to 19 September 1991.
• Time taken to acquire M.Phil./Ph.D. is not counted as teaching/research experience; however, active research service pursued simultaneously with teaching (without leave) is counted.

Application Fee (Online, Non-Refundable)

• Rs. 1,180/- (including GST) for all posts.
• Rs. 590/- (including GST) for SC/ST & PWD candidates.
• SC/ST/PWD candidates who are not domiciled in Punjab must pay the full fee of Rs. 1,180/-.

How to Apply

• Apply online only through the GNDU website www.digital.gndu.ac.in. No other mode (post, email, fax, CV deposit) will be accepted.
• Candidates must also fill the Score Card Proforma for Assistant Professors – an essential component of the online application form.
• Take two printouts of the online application form, affix the same passport-size photograph uploaded online, and send one copy to THE REGISTRAR, GURU NANAK DEV UNIVERSITY, AMRITSAR-143005, PUNJAB along with self-attested copies of all certificates of educational/professional qualifications (degrees and DMCs with CGPA/OGPA conversion formula), experience certificate, and reserve category certificate. Keep the second copy for your record.
• Candidates applying against a reserved category post must attach their latest Punjab Domicile Certificate / Punjab Residence Certificate issued by the Competent Authority. The candidature for a reserve category will be considered only for the category applied for.
• Candidates must apply separately for each post earmarked for each department. Registration needs to be done only once even for multiple posts/departments/campuses.
• Candidates passing their qualifying examination through Distance Education / Correspondence mode must attach territorial jurisdiction / UGC-DEB approval certificate for the relevant session.
• Photo and signature scans must be in JPEG format, each not exceeding 100 KB.

General Terms

• Research Publications will be considered as per the decision of the Syndicate of the University.
• Reservation policy for direct recruitment follows instructions issued by the Govt. of Punjab; benefits are extended to residents of Punjab State only.
• Candidates claiming Backward Class category must submit a photocopy of their latest valid BC certificate.
• The University reserves the right to fill or not fill the posts and to call only a suitable number of candidates for interview/counselling. The number of posts may be increased or decreased.
• Application fee once paid is neither refundable nor held in reserve for any other recruitment process.
• Canvassing in any form will lead to cancellation of candidature.
• Any dispute regarding the selection/recruitment process will be subject to the courts/tribunals having jurisdiction at Amritsar.
