CSIR-IHBT Project Scientist, Project Associate & Project Assistant Walk-in-Interview 2026 (Advt. No. 14/2026)

CSIR-Institute of Himalayan Bioresource Technology (IHBT), Palampur, Himachal Pradesh invites applications for selection of suitable candidates for 17 positions under various sponsored projects on a purely temporary basis for the duration of the projects as mentioned or till completion of the projects, whichever is earlier, through Walk-in-Interview (Advt. No. 14/2026).

Educational Qualification(s) – Post-wise (Essential / Desirable)

• Post Code 14001 – Project Assistant-I (PA-I) (1 position, project Valorization of Temple Floral Waste into Industrial Dyes and Leftover for Compost to Boost Circular Economy): SSC/10th plus ITI. Desirable: Experience in Laboratory techniques/field activities.
• Post Code 14002 – Senior-PAT (1 position, project Valorization of Temple Floral Waste into Industrial Dyes and Leftover for Compost to Boost Circular Economy): M.Sc. Chemistry / M. Pharma. in Chemistry from a recognized University AND 3 years' R&D experience in Industrial/Academic Institutions or S&T Organizations; OR Doctoral Degree in Chemistry/Industrial Chemistry/Pharmacy AND 2 years' R&D experience. Desirable: Research experience in natural product chemistry or natural colors/dyes.
• Post Code 14003 – Project Associate PAT-I (1 position, project Valorization of Temple Floral Waste into Industrial Dyes and Leftover for Compost to Boost Circular Economy): M.Sc. Chemistry / M. Pharm. in Chemistry from a recognized University. Desirable: Research experience in the area of Natural Product Chemistry/Natural Pigments.
• Post Code 14004 – Project Scientist PS-I (1 position, project Decrypting the conserved function of FLOWERING PROMOTING FACTOR 1 (FPF1) in flowering regulation across plant species: A model to crop translational approach): Ph.D. in Biotechnology/Molecular Biology/Botany/Biochemistry OR Master's/Integrated Masters in Engineering or Technology from a recognized University or equivalent AND 4 years' R&D experience in Industrial/Academic Institutions or S&T Organizations. Desirable: Experience with Arabidopsis, genetic screening, Agrobacterium mediated genetic transformation, cloning and routine molecular biology techniques.
• Post Code 14005 – Project Associate PAT-II (1 position, project Decrypting the conserved function of FLOWERING PROMOTING FACTOR 1 (FPF1) in flowering regulation across plant species: A model to crop translational approach): M.Sc. in Biotechnology/Molecular Biology/Botany/Biochemistry from a recognized University with 2 years' research experience. Desirable: Experience in molecular biology tools and techniques, gene cloning, genetic transformations, protein expression etc.
• Post Code 14006 – Project Assistant-I (PA-I) (1 position, project Novel Formulations for Sustainable Bioremediation of Heavy Metal-Polluted landfill soil and Mining Sites): SSC/10th plus ITI. Desirable: Experience in conducting field trial and data management.
• Post Code 14007 – Senior-PAT (1 position, project Novel Formulations for Sustainable Bioremediation of Heavy Metal-Polluted landfill soil and Mining Sites): M.Sc. in Biotechnology/Microbiology from a recognized University AND 3 years' R&D experience; OR Doctoral Degree in Biotechnology/Microbiology AND 2 years' R&D experience in Industrial/Academic Institutions or S&T Organizations. Desirable: Work experience in preparation of consortium and conducting field trials in the area of bioremediation of soil.
• Post Code 14008 – Project Scientist-I OR Principal-PAT OR Senior-PAT (1 position, project Unravelling the molecular mechanism involving whitefly midgut in circulative and propagative transmission of tomato leaf curl Palampur virus, a bipartite begomovirus): Project Scientist-I: Doctoral Degree in Science or Master's Degree in Engineering/Technology. Desirable: Work experience of conducting field trials/plant data observation/Medicinal & Aromatic Crops and research publications.
• Post Code 14011 – Project Associate PAT-I (1 position, project Millets for health, Well Being and nutritional security: Collection and mapping of traditional Millets based-food product of western Himalayan and their value addition): M.Sc. in Botany/Forestry/Environmental Sciences from a recognized University. Desirable: Experience of conducting field survey in the Himalaya.

• Post Code 14014 – Project Associate PAT-I (1 position, project Determinants of Attitudes Toward Novel Agrotechnologies: An Integrated Model of Technology Acceptance and Diffusion in Farming Communities of the Himachal Pradesh): M.Sc. in Statistics/Agri-economics/Agriculture Extension/Agribusiness Management from a recognized University. Desirable: Working knowledge of statistical modelling and handling of large data sets.
• Post Code 14015 – Project Associate PAT-II (1 position, project CSIR - Phytopharmaceutical Mission-Phase-III): M.Sc. (Ag.) in Agronomy/Soil Science or M.Sc. in Biochemistry from a recognized University AND 2 years' research experience in R&D in Industrial/Academic Institutions or S&T Organizations. Desirable: Experience in soil analysis & plant biochemical analysis, conducting field experiments and data collection in medicinal and aromatic plants.
• Post Code 14016 – Project Associate PAT-I (1 position, project Long-term impact analysis of Microplastics Exposure on Cardiovascular System in solution to climate change: Zebrafish Model based Risk Assessment): Master Degree in Bioinformatics/Computational Biology OR B.Tech. in Bioinformatics/Computational Biology OR M.Sc. in Biotechnology (with skill in Bioinformatics Associate/analyst) from a recognized University. Desirable: Experience in Linux Administration and Programming Python/R; experience in NGS and knowledge of ML/AI.
• Post Code 14017 – Project Associate PAT-I (1 position, project Long-term impact analysis of Microplastics Exposure on Cardiovascular System in solution to climate change: Zebrafish Model based Risk Assessment): Master Degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences from a recognized University. Desirable: Experience in handling Zebrafish as experimental model.

Age Limit

• Project Scientist/Project Associate/Project Assistant (most positions): maximum 35 years.
• Senior-PAT/Principal-PAT: maximum 40 years.
• Age relaxation: SC/ST/PwBD/Women 05 years, OBC 03 years, or as per Govt. of India instructions.

Emoluments

Consolidated stipend ranging from Rs. 18,000/- to Rs. 56,000/- per month plus HRA (9%/10% as applicable), depending upon the position and qualifications (NET/GATE qualified candidates get higher stipend for Project Associate positions).

Tenure

Engagement shall be on behalf of the sponsoring agency, purely temporary and co-terminus with the tenure of the project or 06 years, whichever is earlier. Such engagement shall not provide any right/claim for regularization for permanent post of CSIR.

Selection Process

Selection Committee(s) may adopt the selection criterion either by conducting direct interview or objective test (based on MCQ) followed by interview on the same day. Number of selected candidates may vary from the advertised positions depending upon performance. No Travelling Allowance will be paid for attending the interview.

Walk-in-Interview Details

• Dates: 18th, 19th, 20th & 21st August 2026 (post-wise, reporting time before 10:00 AM).
• Venue: CSIR-IHBT, Palampur, District Kangra, Himachal Pradesh.
• Candidates reporting for interview after 10.00 AM will not be allowed to appear.

Candidates applying for more than one position code must submit a separate application form for each position code.

General Instructions

• Result awaited candidates are not eligible for interview.
• Request for online interview will not be entertained under any circumstances.
• The performance of project staff would be reviewed after every six-months period.
• The decision of the Director, CSIR-IHBT, Palampur shall be final on any matter relating to engagement.
• No application fee is required.
