CSIR-Institute of Himalayan Bioresource Technology (IHBT), Palampur, Himachal Pradesh invites applications for selection of suitable candidates for 15 positions (13 position codes) under various sponsored projects on a purely temporary basis for the duration of the projects as mentioned or till completion of the projects, whichever is earlier, through Walk-in-Interview (Advt. No. 11/2026).

Educational Qualification(s) – Post-wise (Essential / Desirable)

• Post Code 11001 – Project Associate PAT-I (3 position, project Biomass to Chemicals: A Green Approach Towards Circular Economy and Sustainability): M.Sc. Chemistry/M. Pharma in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from a recognized University. Desirable: Experience in the area of organic synthesis.
• Post Code 11002 – Senior-PAT (1 position, project Scale-up and enrichment of Mogroside V from indigenous fruits of Siraitia grosvenorii for the development of high-intensity Natural Sweetener): M.Sc. Chemistry/ Biochemistry/ Phytochemistry/ Industrial chemistry/ Pharmacy from a recognized University AND 3 years' R&D experience; OR M.Tech/ME Chemical Engineering from a recognized University; OR Doctoral Degree in Chemistry/Industrial Chemistry/Pharmacy from a recognized University AND 2 years' R&D experience. Desirable: Experience with Membrane Filtration, Chromatography separation at lab or Pilot Scale with proven experience in form of research publication in peer reviewed journals.

Desirable: Working knowledge of statistical software like ANOVA/Python/MatLab. Must have operated HPLC independently and comfortable with quantitative & qualitative analysis of samples.

Desirable: Certified drone pilot having valid license from DGCA with drone flying experience in the mountainous region.

Desirable: Work experience in an IT/Computer, or remote sensing laboratory, with exposure to the operation and handling of sophisticated instruments.

Desirable: Strong proficiency in web-based applications (front-end and back-end), relational database design, Windows/Linux server administration, GIGW-compliant website development, dashboard & data visualization tools (Power BI, Grafana, Metabase), version control systems and deployment workflows, web application security and cybersecurity best practices.

Desirable: Experience in conducting field experiments and data collection in medicinal and aromatic plants and analysis of soil and plant Biochemical Parameters.

Age Limit

• Project Associate/Project Assistant (most positions): maximum 35 years.
• Senior-PAT: maximum 40 years.
• Age relaxation: SC/ST/PwBD/Women 05 years, OBC 03 years, or as per Govt. of India instructions.

Emoluments

Consolidated stipend ranging from Rs. 18,000/- to Rs. 42,000/- per month plus HRA (10% as applicable), depending upon the position and qualifications (NET/GATE qualified candidates get higher stipend for Project Associate positions).

Tenure

Engagement shall be on behalf of the sponsoring agency, purely temporary and co-terminus with the tenure of the project or 06 years, whichever is earlier. Such engagement shall not provide any right/claim for regularization for permanent post of CSIR.

Selection Process

Selection Committee(s) may adopt the selection criterion either by conducting direct interview or objective test (based on MCQ) followed by interview on the same day. Number of selected candidates may vary from the advertised positions depending upon performance. No Travelling Allowance will be paid for attending the interview.

Walk-in-Interview Details

• Dates: 10th, 11th, 12th, 13th & 14th August 2026 (post-wise, reporting time before 10:00 AM).
• Venue: CSIR-IHBT, Palampur, District Kangra, Himachal Pradesh.
• Candidates reporting for interview after 10.00 AM will not be allowed to appear.

• Result awaited candidates are not eligible for interview.
• Request for online interview will not be entertained under any circumstances.
• The performance of project staff would be reviewed after every six-months period.
• The decision of the Director, CSIR-IHBT, Palampur shall be final on any matter relating to engagement.
