Important Note on PAT-I and PAT-II Pay Scales
PAT-I: Rs. 31,000/- for scholars selected through CSIR-UGC NET (including lectureship/Assistant Professorship), GATE, or a national-level selection process conducted by Central Government Departments and their agencies (DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MHRD, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISC, IISER etc.); Rs. 25,000/- for others.
PAT-II: Rs. 35,000/- for the above category of scholars; Rs. 28,000/- for others.
Candidates with the above qualification but without experience are also eligible for PAT-I positions.
Tenure of Engagement
Six months initially, or co-terminus with the project, or till the job exists — whichever is earlier. Extendable in steps of six months based on satisfactory performance. Total tenure as Project Staff shall not exceed 6 years in any case. Candidates who have already served CSIR-CEERI or any other CSIR lab as Project Staff for 6 years or more are not eligible.
Age Relaxation
5 years relaxation for candidates of SC/ST/PwD/Women/third gender and 3 years for OBC, as per Government of India instructions (CSIR OM No. 5-1(342)/2017-PD dated 02 September 2024). The upper age limit, essential qualification and experience are determined as on the last date of online application.
Selection Process
Applications are screened by a duly constituted Standing Screening Committee, which may fix project-specific shortlisting criteria. Shortlisted candidates are called for an online interview through Microsoft Teams; the joining link is sent to the registered email address. Selected candidates must join immediately and bring all original testimonials, mark sheets, certificates and a passport-size photograph at the time of joining.

Scanned copies of 10th, 12th, diploma, graduation and post-graduation certificates (with clearly visible percentage/CGPA/DGPA), date-of-birth proof, category certificate (if SC/ST/OBC/PwBD/EWS), NET/GATE or equivalent exam certificate, experience certificate where mandatory, and any other certificates.
