Bihar Police Subordinate Services Commission (BPSSC) has issued Advertisement No. 11/2026 dated 07.09.2026 for promotion-based recruitment to the post of Gulma Samadesta (Company Commander) in the Bihar Home Guard Vahini Seva Sanvarg, under the Home Department (Special Branch), Government of Bihar. A total of 65 posts are to be filled through a competitive written examination and Physical Efficiency Test. Eligibility – Service Condition

• Must be an Indian citizen.
• Must be currently enrolled and trained in the Bihar Home Guard Vahini organization (daily duty allowance recipients, including sportspersons).
• Must have completed at least 5 years of service/duty as on the cut-off date.
• Must have at least 10 years of remaining service left as on the cut-off date.
• Men, women and third-gender Home Guards may apply.

Chest measurement is not applicable for women candidates. A minimum expansion of 5 cm is required for men after fully expanding the chest. For third-gender (Kinnar/Kothi/Hijra/Transgender) candidates, physical standards and PET criteria follow those prescribed for Backward Class (BC) candidates. No marks are awarded for height, chest or weight — candidates merely need to meet the prescribed minimums to qualify.

Negative marking of 0.2 marks per wrong answer applies in both Preliminary and Main examinations. The answer sheet will be prepared in two copies, one retained by the Commission.

Phase 3: Physical Efficiency Test (PET)

Candidates shortlisted for PET at 6 x vacancies, category-wise, in merit order. PET is qualifying in nature only.

Candidates get a maximum of three attempts each for high jump, long jump and shot put. Failure to complete the race within the prescribed time disqualifies a candidate from further events. Each event must be cleared separately. Third-gender candidates follow the same PET standards as Backward Class.

Final Merit List

The final merit list is prepared category-wise based on marks obtained in the Main written examination (Paper 2). In case of a tie, preference is given in the following order: (1) Date of birth (older candidate ranked higher), (2) Higher educational qualification, (3) Alphabetical order of name as per the 10th board certificate.

Payment must be made online only through Net Banking, Credit Card, Debit Card or UPI. Bank charges on Net Banking/Credit/Debit Card transactions must be borne by the candidate. The post of Gulma Samadesta (Company Commander) carries Pay Level-6 of the applicable pay matrix.

How to Apply

1. Visit the official BPSSC website bpssc.bihar.gov.in, go to the "Home Guard" tab and click the link for Advertisement No. 11/2026.
2. Complete Part 1 (Registration): enter name, nationality, mobile number, email ID, Bihar domicile status, reservation category, gender and date of birth, then make the online fee payment.
3. After successful registration and payment, a registration number and password will be sent via SMS and email.
4. Login using these credentials and complete Part 2 of the form with father’s/husband’s name, mother’s name, address and educational qualification details.
5. Upload a recent colour photograph (taken within last 2 months, white background, 15–25 KB, JPG/JPEG/GIF format) and a scanned signature (black or blue ink on white background, 15–25 KB, JPG/JPEG/GIF format).
6. Review all entered details carefully using the "Edit Details" option before final submission — no edits are possible once the application is confirmed.
7. After final submission, download and print the Acknowledgement on A4 size paper and retain it for future reference.

Important Instructions

• Only one online application is allowed per candidate and per mobile number; multiple applications lead to rejection of all applications.
• Candidate’s candidature can be cancelled at any time on grounds including: incomplete Part 2 submission, uploading another person’s photo/signature, incorrect information, wrong reservation category claimed, incorrect date of birth/gender, failure to submit proof of 5-year Home Guard service, not meeting age/qualification/citizenship criteria, involvement in criminal cases, cheating during exam/PET, offering inducement/threats to staff, or any other violation of the advertisement terms.
• For a married reserved-category woman candidate, the caste certificate and permanent residence certificate must be submitted based on her father’s category, not her husband’s — since caste is determined by birth. Submitting a certificate based on the husband’s category can lead to rejection.
• Married women candidates found pregnant at the time of medical examination during the PET will not be permitted to take part in the race and physical efficiency test and will be declared ineligible. A declaration regarding non-pregnancy must be submitted by married women candidates.
• No request for extension of time will be entertained under any circumstances (including family, personal, medical, fracture or pregnancy-related reasons) at any stage.
• Medical examination, character and antecedent verification will be conducted for all finally selected candidates before appointment; adverse reports or concealment of facts will lead to disqualification.
