Bihar Police Subordinate Services Commission (BPSSC) has released Advertisement No. 08/2026 for recruitment of Company Commander (Guard Commander) in the Bihar Home Guard Service under the Home Department (Special Branch), Bihar Government, Patna.
Total Vacancies: 65
- UR-26, SC-10, ST-1, EBC-12, OBC-7, EWS-7, OBC Female-2
- 35% horizontal reservation for women (Bihar domicile), 2% for freedom fighter grandchildren
Salary: Pay Level-6 (PB-1, Rs.9,300-34,800 + Grade Pay Rs.4,200) per month (Pensionable)
Qualification: Graduate from a recognised university or equivalent as on 01-08-2025
Age Limit (as on 01-08-2025):
- General (Male): 20-37 years
- General (Female): 20-40 years
- OBC/EBC (Male & Female): 20-40 years
- SC/ST (Male & Female): 20-42 years
- Bihar Govt Employees: Up to 5 years relaxation
- Ex-Servicemen: 3 years + service period relaxation (actual age not exceeding 57 years)
Physical Standards:
Height: 165 cm (Male General/OBC), 160 cm (Male SC/ST/EBC), 155 cm (Female all categories)
Chest (Male): 81-86 cm (General/OBC/EBC), 79-84 cm (SC/ST)
Weight (Female): 48 kg minimum

Selection Process:
Stage 1 – Preliminary Written Exam: 200 marks, 100 MCQs, 2 hrs. General Knowledge & Current Affairs. Qualifying: 30%. Top 20x vacancies called for Main Exam.
Stage 2 – Main Written Exam: Paper 1 – General Hindi (200 marks, qualifying only). Paper 2 – General Studies (200 marks, 100 MCQs, 2 hrs): General Knowledge, Science, Civics, History, Geography, Maths, Mental Aptitude. Negative marking: 0.2 marks per wrong answer.
Stage 3 – Physical Fitness Test: 1 mile run (Male: 6 min 30 sec), 1 km run (Female: 6 min). High Jump: 4 ft (Male), 3 ft (Female). Long Jump: 12 ft (Male), 9 ft (Female). Shot Put: 16 lb to 16 ft (Male), 12 lb to 10 ft (Female).
Final Merit: Based on Main Exam Paper 2 marks. Minimum qualifying: UR-40%, OBC-36.5%, EBC-34%, SC/ST/Women-32%.
