Work Requirements

• Minimum 130 hours (minimum 16 days) per month at Corporate Office, Kolkata (minimum 4 days per week)
• Additional attendance may be required for court matters, meetings, exigencies, or as directed by Competent Authority without additional remuneration
• Must remain available through telephone/email during working hours on all days

Job Profile

• Report to Managing Director and liaise with HoDs of BCPL as required
• Rendering legal advice/opinion on service, labour, contractual, commercial, corporate, and statutory matters
• Drafting, vetting, and examining contracts, agreements, MoUs, tenders, affidavits, pleadings, notices, replies, filing Trade Mark and other legal documents
• Assisting in handling litigation before Courts, Tribunals, Labour Courts, Arbitration Forums, and other statutory/quasi-judicial authorities
• Coordinating with advocates, counsels, law firms, and government authorities in connection with legal matters
• Monitoring court cases, maintaining case status, and assisting in legal strategy and compliance
• Examining legal implications of policy decisions and management proposals
• Any other legal work as assigned by Competent Authority

Qualification & Experience

Essential: Bachelor's Degree in Law (LLB) from a recognized University/Institute approved by the Bar Council of India

Enrollment: Must be enrolled as an Advocate with a State Bar Council under the Advocates Act, 1961 and must possess minimum ten (10) years of continuous membership of the State Bar Council as on the closing date of application

Age Limit: Not exceeding 40 years as on date of advertisement (Relaxation by 5 years for SC/ST/PWD candidates and for others as per Govt. directives). Relaxation may be given for deserving candidates in exceptional cases.

Conflict of Interest / Disqualification: Candidature liable to be disqualified if the candidate has represented or appeared against BCPL in any court, tribunal, arbitration, or any other judicial/quasi-judicial forum in a professional capacity, or has any actual or potential conflict of interest with BCPL. Decision of BCPL is final and binding.
