RPF Constable CBT Cut Off & Score Normalisation Explained
The RPF Constable CBT is conducted in multiple shifts, so the conducting authority applies the standard railway normalisation methodology before preparing results. Because question-paper difficulty varies across shifts, raw marks are adjusted using a percentile-based equalisation method, and the normalised score is used for merit and cut-off purposes. The scorecard you download displays the normalised marks along with section-wise performance.
Category-wise cut-offs (UR, OBC, EWS, SC, ST, and women / ex-serviceman categories as notified) are fixed after normalisation based on vacancies, the number of candidates examined and shift-wise difficulty. The notification prescribes minimum qualifying percentages for each community. Only candidates above the category cut-off qualify for PET and PST. PET/PST is qualifying (no marks are added), and the final merit is prepared from the CBT marks of candidates who pass PET/PST, Document Verification and the medical test.
Selection Process & Next Stage: PET, PST, DV and Medical
- CBT: 120 questions in 90 minutes covering General Awareness, Arithmetic, General Intelligence & Reasoning; negative marking of one-third for wrong answers; result declared for both cycles, final stage completed for CEN RPF 02/2024.
- Physical Efficiency Test (PET): male candidates typically race 1000 metres in 5 minutes 45 seconds (with graded fast-qualifying time marks) and long jump / high jump as prescribed; female candidates race 800 metres with long jump and other events as per notification; one attempt allowed.
- Physical Standard Test (PST): height, chest (male) and weight standards: e.g. male candidates generally 165 cm height with 76–81 cm chest (relaxations for specified communities); female candidates generally 157 cm height and proportionate weight; relaxations apply as per rules.
- Document Verification: originals of 10th mark sheet, any higher qualification, category/EWS/ex-serviceman certificates, domicile and photographs verified against the application.
- Medical Examination: candidates who clear DV undergo medical fitness tests as per RPF medical standards, including distant and near vision standards.
- Final Merit & Appointment: final merit is prepared zone-wise and category-wise from CBT marks of medically fit candidates; selected candidates receive training and posting instructions through the zonal RPF units.
RPF Constable Result – Frequently Asked Questions
1. Where do I download my RPF Constable CBT scorecard?
The scorecard is available on the official RRB / RPF portal where the examination was conducted. Open the CBT scorecard link and log in with your registration number and date of birth/password. The final result for CEN RPF 02/2024 was published as zone-wise merit PDFs on 16 February 2026.
2. My roll number is missing from the qualified list. What should I do?
Ensure you are checking the list for your exact RRB/zone — each publishes separately. RRBs may release revised or supplementary lists after PET/PST and DV, so keep checking the official sites. If you believe there is an error, file a representation through the official grievance/helpdesk channel of your RRB within the notified period.
3. Which portal should I log into — rrbapply.gov.in or indianrailways.gov.in?
Use rrbapply.gov.in (or the specific RRB site like rrbmumbai.gov.in) for CBT scorecards and stage status that are login-based. Use the RPF section on indianrailways.gov.in for final merit/panel lists and official circulars. Both are government portals; avoid third-party mirrors.
4. When will the PET/PST and Document Verification dates be announced?
PET/PST for the ongoing cycle is being conducted during 2026, and dates are announced zone-wise on RRB/RPF websites with individual call letters. DV follows after physical test qualification and medical scheduling. Keep tracking your registered mobile/email and the Results/Notices section of your RRB site for any rescheduling.
5. When is the final merit for the ongoing RPF Constable cycle expected?
Final merit is prepared only after PET/PST, DV and medical examination are completed. For the ongoing cycle, the final merit is expected during 2026, zone-wise, on the official portals. (The previous cycle, CEN RPF 02/2024, completed with its final result on 16 February 2026.)
