Areas of Specialisation

Candidates should specialise in one of the following fields, with the Asia-Pacific region as their primary geographical focus:

• Area Studies

• International Relations

• International Development and Policy Studies

Key Responsibilities

The selected candidate will be expected to:

• Submit an annual research activity report

• Present ongoing research at the WIAPS seminar each academic year

• Apply for JSPS Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research, where applicable

• Attend WIAPS faculty meetings

• Plan and organise GSAPS and WIAPS events

• Support the management of academic journals in English and Japanese

• Collaborate with overseas partner universities and strengthen academic networks across Asia

• Teach courses such as Common Basic Subjects, Qualitative Research Methods, Quantitative Research Methods and Writing and Research Skills

Teaching responsibilities will normally be limited to a maximum of two class periods per week.
