Eligibility
- Education: Master degree with 55% in the concerned/relevant subject from an Indian university (or equivalent foreign degree) plus UGC/CSIR NET (or accredited SLET/SET) OR Ph.D. per UGC Regulations 2009/2016 (with amendments; conditions apply for pre-11.07.2009 registrants). 5% relaxation at PG level for SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PwD and for Ph.D. holders with PG before 19.09.1991. Subjects without NET (per UGC) are exempt from the NET requirement.
- Music: Master 55% in the subject + NET/Ph.D.; OR traditional/professional artist route (trained under renowned masters, 'A' grade AIR/DD artist, explanatory ability, adequate theory knowledge).
- Related-subject eligibility applies as per the notification table (e.g., M.Ed. for Education; Applied Physics for Physics; D.P.Ed./M.P.E. for Physical Education).

- Written exam (360 marks): 120 objective MCQs (30 General Knowledge + 90 subject), 2 hours, OMR with black ballpoint; +3 per correct, -1 per wrong/extra answer. Bilingual (Hindi + English) except language-subject papers.
- Interview (40 marks): shortlisting on written marks (info 10+ days prior via SMS/email/website); merit = written + interview (400). Tie-break: written, then interview, then qualification %, then PG marks, then senior age. Cutoff published on the website after the process.
