Eligibility

Retired officers of TMB or other banks who were in Scale II, Scale III or Scale IV cadre at the time of retirement, with an unblemished service record. Officers removed or dismissed under disciplinary measures are not eligible. Candidates with earlier experience in an inspection or audit department will be given preference.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Verify that branch activities are conducted as per the bank's internal policies, procedures and circulars, and that RBI regulations and statutory requirements are adhered to.
• Check compliance with KYC and anti-money laundering (AML) norms.
• Scrutinise cash transactions, deposits, advances and high-value entries for irregularities; verify cash balance and vault holdings against records.
• Examine the loan and advance portfolio for documentation, sanction procedure and follow-up, and check interest calculations and charges.
• Identify operational, credit, trade finance and compliance risks, fraud-prone areas such as dormant accounts, unauthorised overdrafts or forged documents, and evaluate the adequacy of internal controls.
• Inspect security items - gold, title deeds and other pledged or mortgaged properties - and verify CCTV, alarm systems, fire safety measures and insurance cover of branch assets.
• Assess service standards, review customer complaints and their resolution, audit account opening forms, loan files, vouchers and registers, and check statutory registers, record retention, staff attendance, leave records and code of conduct.
• Prepare a detailed inspection report covering observations, irregularities, risks identified and recommendations for corrective action; submit findings to the Regional Office / Head Office Inspection Division and follow up on compliance with earlier inspection recommendations.
