Educational Qualification and Experience
- Minimum: 10th standard from a government-recognised school.
- Literacy: basic reading and writing skills in Marathi, Hindi or English to understand safety labels, chemical instructions and guest requests.
- Preferred: a certificate in hospitality, housekeeping or hostel maintenance; six months to two years' experience in a similar role in hostels, hotels, guest houses, hospitals or student dormitories; experience of handling industrial cleaning equipment, chemical safety, bed-making and deep-cleaning bathrooms; good oral communication in Hindi and Marathi, preferably English.
Required Skills
- Physical stamina to stand, bend and lift heavy items such as mattresses or laundry bags for long hours.
- A polite and friendly manner, as hostels involve frequent direct interaction with international and young travellers.
- Time management to clean multiple rooms or floors within check-out and check-in windows.
- Attention to detail in spotting and reporting maintenance issues such as broken lights or leaking pipes.
