- RPF/RPSF personnel, Law Assistant, Catering Inspector and Accounts Cadre are not eligible
- Staff in lower levels, and same-level staff moving non-safety to safety or safety to safety, are eligible (RBE No.72/2017)
- PwBD staff are eligible for posts other than Goods Train Manager and JE/Signal/S&T on their own merit
- Age as on 01.01.2027: UR 18-42, OBC 18-45, SC/ST 18-47; no relaxation for SC/ST/OBC-NCL against unreserved vacancies
- Educational qualification must be held and endorsed in the Service Register/HRMS as on 28.10.2026; those awaiting final results need not apply
