SAIL Durgapur Steel Plant Consultant (Sports Coach) Recruitment 2026 – 3 Posts | Walk-in 27 October

Durgapur Steel Plant (DSP), a unit of the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), invites qualified coaches to appear in a walk-in interview for engagement of 3 Consultants (Sports Coach) in different disciplines, purely on tenure basis. Advertisement No. DSP/PERS-NW/RECTT/CONSULTANT(SC)/2026/2092 dated 09.10.2026.

The engagement is purely of a temporary nature and shall not create any right to regular appointment in any ground whatsoever. The Consultants engaged will not be entitled to any benefits not specifically laid out.

Walk-in interview

• Date – 27.10.2026 (Tuesday)
• Reporting time – 10:00 AM to 01:00 PM
• Venue – Centre for L&D, Durgapur Steel Plant, Durgapur – 713203, West Bengal
• Selection is through the walk-in interview, subject to medical fitness
• No TA/DA is admissible for appearing in the walk-in interview

Age and tenure

• Upper age limit – 64 years as on 09.10.2026.
• The initial tenure of engagement is one year, which can be extended twice for a period of one year each at the discretion of the Company on satisfactory performance; the maximum period of engagement is not more than three years. There is no bar on re-engagement, and the tenure is subject to the upper age limit of 65 years.
• A Medical Fitness Certificate from a registered medical practitioner is mandatory to be produced before engagement; the Consultants engaged must be medically fit.
• Candidates must be Indian nationals.
• Ex-employees of SAIL and ex-employees of other organisations who have been separated through voluntary retirement shall not be considered for engagement.

Documents to be brought

Eligible candidates may walk in for the interview with the following certificates and documents in original, together with one set of self-attested photocopies. A candidate who fails to produce the originals in support of eligibility will not be allowed to appear in the interview:

• filled-in application in Annexure-A format with one recent passport-size colour photograph; no other form of application will be accepted
• proof of date of birth (matriculation certificate)
• certificates and mark sheets of the required qualification
• caste/category certificate, wherever applicable
• experience certificate(s) and other relevant certificates as mentioned under the essential requirement; in case of retired employees, the service certificate issued by the parent organisation
• photo identity proof (voter ID / Aadhaar card / passport / driving licence, etc.)
• NOC from the present employer, if employed under PSUs, autonomous bodies or a government department
• a self-certificate that he/she has not separated due to voluntary retirement (applicable to ex-employees of SAIL and to non-SAIL ex-employees of PSUs/government)

Other benefits and conditions

• Housing – ex-employees of SAIL may retain the allotted company accommodation during the engagement period, with rent and electricity/water charges for that category of accommodation. Other SAIL ex-employees and non-SAIL ex-employees may be provided company accommodation (2 BR or equivalent) on payment basis, if desired, subject to availability. No HRA is admissible.
• Medical benefit – for SAIL ex-employees the medical benefits available to ex-employees continue; for other non-SAIL ex-employees, medical benefits are available for self only at company hospitals, without referrals.
• Leave – 10 days leave in a year, subject to prior approval.
• TA/DA – as per the entitlement of the lowest category of the executive cadre under the SAIL Travelling Allowance (TA) Rules 2021; for SAIL ex-employees, as per the entitlement of the grade in which the employee superannuated.
• The emoluments are consolidated pay, and no PF, gratuity or other benefit is payable unless specified. During sporting or other events, the Consultants shall be liable to give their services in emergent conditions, even beyond normal working hours, with no claim for extra remuneration.
• The engagement may be terminated by one month's notice by either party, and by the Company forthwith in case of medical unfitness likely to continue for a considerable period, poor performance, moral turpitude, conviction by a court of law, insolvency, loss of licence to practise, grave misconduct or financial irregularity.
• Presidential directives on reservation, as applicable to appointments in public enterprises, will be followed.
• DSP reserves the right to reject any application, cancel the candidature or the whole selection process, or admit fewer than the number of Sports Coaches indicated, without assigning any reason. Candidature is liable to be rejected at any stage if any information is found false or not in conformity with the eligibility criteria.
• The court of jurisdiction for any dispute is Durgapur.
