NIT Silchar JRF (ECE) 2026 - ANRF ML-Driven ISAC for Hybrid Satellite-Terrestrial 6G Connectivity | Apply by 03 September 2026

The Office of the Dean (Research and Consultancy) at the National Institute of Technology Silchar has released an advertisement for a temporary Junior Research Fellow (JRF) position to work on an Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF), Government of India sponsored project in the Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering. Essential Qualifications

The essential qualification for the JRF position is an M.Tech/M.E degree in Electronics & Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering from a recognised university, along with a valid GATE score. Candidates are required to submit copies of their degree certificate, mark sheets, and GATE score card along with the application.

Desirable Experience

While not strictly mandatory, the following are listed as desirable: (i) a solid understanding of digital communication, probability theory, optimisation, and wireless communications, and (ii) experience with programming languages such as MATLAB or Python.

Age Limit and Emoluments

The upper age limit for applicants is 35 years as on the closing date of application, i.e. 03.09.2026. Candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/Women/PwD categories will get age and qualification relaxation as per Government of India rules. The selected Junior Research Fellow will be paid Rs. 37,000 per month, plus HRA at 10 percent if Institute accommodation is not provided. The fellowship is charged to the project head and the appointment is co-terminus with the project; no separate liability rests on NIT Silchar beyond the project period.

Tenure and Working Conditions

The initial appointment is for two years, with extension based on performance review every twelve months. The selected candidate will be required to work full-time on the project, sign an agreement at the time of joining, and abide by the rules and regulations of NIT Silchar and the sponsoring agency. Candidates who are already employed in government, public-sector undertakings, autonomous bodies, or private organisations must produce a No Objection Certificate from their current employer at the time of the interview. The fellowship is purely temporary and does not confer any right to a permanent position at NIT Silchar.
