National Institute of Technology Agartala Job Details & Overview
National Institute of Technology Agartala (NIT Agartala), an Institute of National Importance under the Ministry of Education, Government of India, invites applications from eligible retired Government personnel for engagement as Accountant on a contractual basis. Advertisement No. F.NITA.2(166-Estt)/Cont/2023/5514-19 dated 12.10.2026.
2 posts of Accountant (Contractual) are advertised. The number of posts is tentative and may increase or decrease depending upon the requirement of the Institute. The position is open only to retired Government employees.
Place of posting is NIT Agartala, Jirania, Agartala. The contract is initially for a period of one year, to be considered for further extension up to two terms subject to the requirement of the Institute and satisfactory work performance; the original term and renewals together are limited to three years. The engagement will not confer any right of continuation or confirmation in NIT Agartala under any circumstances.

Age and general conditions
- Age up to 62 years as on 30.09.2026. The notice states that the same will not be a constraint for meritorious candidates.
- Experience means experience in the relevant field acquired from Government, Semi-Government, PSU, Autonomous, Research or reputed organisation after obtaining the minimum educational qualification prescribed for the post. An experience certificate from the employer must be attached.
- Essential qualification must be from a recognised University, Deemed University, Institute or Council.
- The Competent Authority of NIT Agartala reserves the right to relax or modify any criterion of eligibility regarding age, qualification, experience or any relevant parameter if a candidate is found otherwise suitable.
- The Institute reserves the right to accept or reject any or all applications, or the whole engagement process, without assigning any reason. Canvassing in any form, or bringing outside influence, shall lead to rejection.
- No TA/DA is admissible to attend the interview. If a selected candidate leaves during the contract period, one month's notice or salary in lieu thereof must be given.
- Any dispute shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the High Court of Tripura.
