The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has invited applications for the position of Joint Advisor (Environment & Plantation) on contract basis to work in Regional Office-Vijayawada. Applications are to be submitted online only, by 18 September 2026 (6:00 PM).

Eligibility Criteria

  • Educational Qualification: Degree of a recognized University/Institute in Science group subject. (Essential qualification not mandatory for officers retired from forest/agriculture/horticulture/social forestry departments with relevant experience.)
  • Retired Officers: Retired officers from Central/State Govt./PSUs/Autonomous Bodies, not below the level of Conservator of Forests or Deputy Secretary/Director.
  • Experience: 15 years' experience in the field of Forestry or Agricultural or Horticulture or Environment.
  • Preference: Reasonable experience in Forest (including Wildlife) & Environment (including CRZ) Clearances and issues regarding Environment Impact Assessment (EIA)/Environment Management Plans (EMP).
  • Age: Not exceeding 65 years.

Remuneration (per month)

For retired employees of Central/State Governments, Autonomous Bodies/PSUs: Monthly Remuneration = (Last Drawn Basic Pay – Pension + Transport Allowance) + Domain Specialization Charges, subject to maximum ceiling of Rs. 1,75,000/- as per EP/YP Guidelines dated 21.06.2017 (amended from time to time). Maximum limits: Domain Specialization Charges Rs. 80,000/-, Telephone Charges Rs. 2,500/-, Hospitality Charges Rs. 2,500/- per month.

Job Description

  • Facilitation of Forest (including Wildlife) & Environment (including CRZ) Clearances and scrutiny of FC & EC proposals including EIA/EMP including Wildlife Mitigation Plan.
  • Liaise and coordinate with Integrated Regional Offices of MoEF & CC, State Forests and Environment Departments including State Pollution Control Boards.
  • Administrative matters pertaining to management of highways plantations, handling of database on tree cutting and plantations.
  • Assessment of median & avenue plantation on National Highways, including monitoring, evaluation & reporting, and suggesting remedial measures.
  • Develop action plan for project implementation and site-specific plantation/mitigation proposals.
  • Consultation & coordination with State agencies (SFDs, Departments of Environment, Horticulture, Agriculture, Sericulture, rural development) for convergence of resources.
  • Scrutinize ongoing & future DPRs/CAs for effective implementation of avenue & median plantations (Green Highways Policy & Guidelines).
  • Coordinate with Project Implementing Agencies (Concessionaire, JFMC etc.) for implementation & monitoring of Green Highways Projects.
  • Submit Fortnightly Progress Report, organize onsite training & awareness programs, and render other ancillary services as assigned.
