North Eastern Space Applications Centre (NESAC), Umiam, Meghalaya (under Department of Space, Government of India) invites applications for selection to the temporary project positions of Research Scientist, Junior Research Fellow (JRF) & Project Associate-I through Walk-in-Interview (Advt. No. NESAC/RMT-TEMP/WI-02/2026 dated 17.07.2026). Walk-in-interviews are tentatively scheduled on 10th, 11th and 12th August 2026 at NESAC, Umiam, Ri Bhoi District, Meghalaya (85 kms from Guwahati Railway Station and 18 kms from Shillong). Candidates are given an option to answer in Hindi also.

Minimum Marks: M.E./M.Tech degree with aggregate minimum 60% (average of all semesters) or CGPA/CPI grading of 6.5 on 10 point scale; B.E./B.Tech/M.Sc degree with aggregate minimum 65% or CGPA/CPI grading of 6.84 on 10 point scale, from a recognized university.
Research Scientist: First Class M.Sc./M.Tech/M.Sc (Tech) in Geology/Applied Geology/Geophysics/Earth Science, Computer Science & Engineering/IT, Disaster Management/Geography/Geoinformatics/Remote Sensing & GIS, Botany/Forestry/Environmental Science/Physics/Meteorology/Atmospheric Science etc. or equivalent discipline, with one year research/work experience in the relevant field. Ph.D in relevant field is desirable.
Junior Research Fellow (JRF): First Class M.Sc./M.Tech in relevant discipline (Forestry/Environmental Science/Physics/Atmospheric Science/Computer Science & Engineering/Earth System Science etc.) or First Class B.E./B.Tech in Computer Science & Engineering/IT with valid NET/GATE or equivalent (CSIR-UGC NET including Lectureship, GATE, JAM, JEST/JGEEBILS, AICE) in the relevant field.
Project Associate - I: First Class M.Sc. in Botany/Forestry/Environmental Science or equivalent discipline with minimum one year experience in plant identification.
Age Limit (as on date of interview): Research Scientist (M.Sc based) – maximum 28 years; Research Scientist (M.Tech based) – maximum 30 years; Junior Research Fellow – maximum 28 years; Project Associate-I – maximum 35 years. Age relaxation: SC/ST 5 years, OBC 3 years; Ex-Servicemen and Persons with Disabilities as per Government of India orders.
All positions are purely on temporary project basis, co-terminus with the project and without any provision for regularization. Research Scientist – initially one year, extendable up to maximum three years based on performance. JRF and Project Associate-I – initially one year or project duration (whichever is earlier), maximum engagement five years. These positions do not confer any claim or right for regular employment in NESAC.
Selection will be purely based on performance in the Walk-in-Interview. Date of interview will be the cut-off date for age, qualification etc. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.
Interested and eligible candidates are required to come directly to the venue (NESAC, Umiam, Ri Bhoi District, Meghalaya) on the scheduled date along with their Biodata in the prescribed format (typed, not handwritten), all relevant original documents and a set of self-attested photocopies. Candidates employed under Central/State Government, PSUs or Autonomous Bodies must produce "No Objection Certificate" in original at the time of interview.
