Eligibility
- Officers of Central/State Governments, Union Territories, autonomous/statutory organisations, public undertakings, universities or recognised research institutes.
- Deputy Secretary: analogous post or five years' regular service in Level 11; Bachelor's degree with five years' experience in accounts, administration or establishment work.
- Deputy Legal Adviser: analogous post or five years' regular service in Level 11 with legal/legislative experience; LL.B. with eight years' experience or LL.M. with five years' experience in legal/legislative matters.
- Under Secretary: analogous post or six years' regular service in Level 8; Bachelor's degree with five years' experience in accounts/administration/establishment.
- Section Officer: analogous post or eight years' regular service in Level 7; Bachelor's degree with five years' experience in accounts/administration/establishment.
- Maximum age 56 years on the closing date.
- The deputation period, including previous ex-cadre deputation, ordinarily does not exceed three years.
- Departmental officers in the direct line of promotion are not eligible for deputation; deputationists are not eligible for promotion.
Post-wise Qualification
- Deputy Secretary: Bachelor's degree; 5 years' experience in accounts/administration/establishment; analogous post or 5 years in Level 11.
- Deputy Legal Adviser: LL.B. with 8 years' legal/legislative experience, or LL.M. with 5 years' experience; analogous post or 5 years in Level 11.
- Under Secretary: Bachelor's degree; 5 years' experience in accounts/administration/establishment; analogous post or 6 years in Level 8.
