Nagaon University – Registrar (5-Year Term Post)

Nagaon University, a public State University established by upgrading Nowgong College (Autonomous) under Assam Act No. LIX of 2023, invites applications from eligible candidates for the post of Registrar. Ref. No. NU/Adv./Reg./2026/02 dated 27-10-2026.

Essential Qualification

Any one of the following:

1. a) A Master’s Degree with at least 55% of the marks or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever the grading system is followed; and
   b) At least 15 years of experience as Assistant Professor in Academic Level 11 and above, or 8 years of service in Academic Level 12 and above including as Associate Professor along with at least 3 years of experience in educational administration.
2. Or, comparable experience in a research establishment and/or other institutions of higher education recognised by UGC or AICTE.
3. Or, 15 years of administrative experience of which 8 years shall be as Deputy Registrar or an equivalent post.

• The envelope must be clearly superscribed “APPLICATION FOR THE POST OF REGISTRAR”.
• Applications must be submitted within 21 days from the date of publication of the advertisement.

General Instructions

• The application fee is non-refundable.
• In-service persons must submit their applications through proper channel or submit a No Objection Certificate from the appointing authority along with the application.
• Applications received after the last date shall be rejected; the University is not responsible for postal delay.
• All applications, irrespective of category, shall be scrutinised by a Screening Committee. Applications found incorrect, deficient or incomplete in any form shall be summarily rejected.
• Mere fulfilment of the minimum eligibility criteria shall not entitle an applicant to be called for interview; the decision of the Screening Committee on shortlisting shall be final and binding.
• No TA/DA is admissible for appearing in the interview/written test.
• Canvassing in any form will lead to disqualification.
• Appointment shall remain purely temporary until confirmed after a minimum of one year’s probation, which may be extended if necessary.
• The selected candidate must be medically fit and produce a certificate signed by the Joint Director of Health Services of the district concerned or a Government Medical Officer before joining.
• A good conduct certificate from the Head of the Institution last attended or served, and a No Court Case Certificate from a competent authority, must be submitted at the time of joining.
• The University reserves the right to withdraw the advertised post at any time, or to fill or not to fill the post.
• For reserved category candidates, the Supreme Court order against Civil Appeal No. 1085 arising out of S.L.P. No. 36324 of 2017 will be followed.
• All terms and conditions of appointment shall be in accordance with the Act and Statutes of the University.
