- Master's degree with at least 55% marks or equivalent grade
- 15 years as Assistant Professor in Academic Level 11 and above, or 8 years in Academic Level 12 and above including Associate Professor with educational administration experience, or comparable experience in a research establishment/other higher education institution, or 15 years of administrative experience with 8 years as Deputy Registrar or equivalent
- Knowledge of Punjabi up to Matric standard (essential)
- Ph.D. desirable

- Essential qualification: Master's degree with at least 55% marks or an equivalent grade in a point scale
- Essential experience (any one): 15 years as Assistant Professor in Academic Level 11 and above; or 8 years of service in Academic Level 12 and above including as Associate Professor along with experience in educational administration; or comparable experience in a research establishment and/or other institutions of higher education; or 15 years of administrative experience, of which 8 years as Deputy Registrar or an equivalent post
- Desirable: Ph.D. in any subject; experience of administrative practice, human resource management, statutory functions and academic activities of universities/R&D institutions; experience of handling legal matters
- Knowledge of Punjabi up to Matric standard is essential
