MeECL Graduate Apprentice Recruitment 2026-27 – 30 Seats (Arts, Law, Science, Commerce) | Apply by 30 Oct

Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited (MeECL), a Government of Meghalaya undertaking headquartered at Shillong, invites applications to engage Graduate (General Stream) apprentices – B.A., B.A. LL.B., B.Sc. and B.Com. – for a period of one year, under the Apprentices Act, 1961. MeECL engages in the generation, transmission and distribution of electricity in Meghalaya. 30 apprenticeship seats are offered across the four streams, with a stipend of Rs.12,300 per month. The stream-wise break-up is given in the position details table on this page.

Applicants must be residents of Meghalaya, and the service conditions of the apprentices selected will be governed by the Apprentices Act, 1961, as amended from time to time. Reservation for SC/ST/OBC and physically challenged candidates (in identified trades) will be applicable; the notice does not publish a stream-wise reservation split.

Eligibility

• The applicant should be a resident of Meghalaya.
• Age – maximum 24 years as on 31.05.2026 and not less than 18 years. Age relaxation is allowed for SC/ST/OBC, Persons with Disability and Ex-servicemen as per applicable Government of India rules.
• Year of passing – 2024, 2025 or 2026. Candidates who passed the qualifying examination before 2024 are not eligible.
• The candidate must have an active email ID, mobile number and EPIC card.
• The candidate must be enrolled or registered with the Board of Practical Training through online enrolment at the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme portal, www.mhrdnats.gov.in, and must possess a valid enrolment ID generated after successful enrolment within three years of passing the qualifying examination.
• A graduate holder who has training or job experience of one year or more after attaining the qualification is not eligible to be engaged as an apprentice under the Act. A person whose earlier apprenticeship contract was terminated for any reason is not eligible again without the prior approval of the Apprenticeship Adviser.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted in the prescribed Format A given in the advertisement. All fields are compulsory and no blank should be left. Incomplete application forms, forms not in the prescribed format, forms without signatures and applications without the prescribed enclosures will not be considered, and no communication will be made with such applicants.

Self-attested photocopies of the following documents must be attached with the application form:

• EPIC / Passport
• consolidated mark sheet or the last mark sheet of the essential qualification obtained; where the institute or university assigns grades, a conversion certificate from the respective university or college for calculating the percentage of marks
• date of birth document – 10th standard certificate or a birth certificate issued by the municipality or such appropriate authority
• two passport-size photographs
• caste certificate in the prescribed format in support of a claim of belonging to SC/ST/OBC, duly issued by a competent authority
• certificate of physical challenge, if applicable

Selection and other conditions

• Only those candidates whose applications are shortlisted will be contacted. No communication will be done with other applicants. Canvassing of any kind will be a disqualification.
• Shortlisted candidates will be required to appear for original certificate verification at their own cost. No travelling allowance, transport or accommodation will be provided. The candidate must also produce a prescribed physical fitness certificate from a medical practitioner at their own cost.
• Selected candidates found physically fit must execute a contract of apprenticeship with the employer. The selection letter will be issued to candidates who sign the apprentice contract form, and the date of joining the training will be the date of signing the apprentice agreement form.
• Selected candidates must report to the training on the date stipulated in the selection letter at their own cost; no travelling allowance, transport or accommodation will be provided for joining or during the training.
• The contract of apprenticeship terminates on the expiry of the period of apprenticeship training. It is not obligatory on MeECL to offer employment to any apprentice on completion of the training, nor is the apprentice obliged to accept employment under the employer.
• Every graduate apprentice who completes the training to the satisfaction of the employer will be granted a certificate of satisfactory completion of apprenticeship training by the employer, and will receive a certificate of proficiency from BOPTER. The period of training is one year from the date of agreement.
• Leaves are applicable as per the Apprentices Act, 1961 and its amendments.
• The Deputy Director, HRDC, MeECL, Umiam is the sole and ultimate authority with all discretionary powers and relaxations, if any, for all decisions regarding the overall conduct of apprentice training. All representations should be made only to the Deputy Director, HRDC, MeECL, Umiam.
