The Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Kargil Subordinate Services Recruitment Board (KSSRB) invites online applications for 181 district cadre posts in six departments – School Education, Rural Development & Panchayati Raj, Handicraft, Ladakh Power Development, PHE/I&FC and Animal Husbandry. Advertisement Notice No. 02 of 2026, No. KSSRB/Advert-Posts/2026-27/293-302, dated 21.10.2026.

Vacancies
Of the 181 posts, 155 are reserved for Scheduled Tribes, reflecting the district cadre of Kargil. Department-wise and category-wise vacancies are set out in the vacancy table on this page, and the pay level, qualification and reservation of each of the 20 posts are listed in the position table.
Reservation
Vertical reservation as notified – UR 4, ST 155, SC 1, ALC (Actual Line of Control) 6, EWS 15, totalling 181. Horizontal reservation of 6% Ex-Servicemen (ESM), 4% Persons with Disabilities (PwD) and 4% Outstanding Sportspersons (OSP) applies vide S.O. 247 dated 18.08.2026. Horizontal reservation is not part of the vertical totals above.
A candidate eligible under more than one reserved category (for example ST and ALC, or ALC and EWS) may claim reservation under only one category, as per section 19 of the J&K Reservation Act, 2004. That choice is final once the application is submitted.
Domicile – Kargil district only
Only candidates who are residents of Kargil district are eligible, as required by S.O. 180 dated 27.04.2026, and must hold a Domicile Certificate in the prescribed format (Annexure-V). The crucial date for determining domicile, category status, age and essential qualification is the closing date, 27.11.2026.
Age limit
18 to 40 years as on 01.01.2026 – a candidate must have been born not earlier than 01.01.1986 and not later than 01.01.2008. Permissible upper-age relaxation:
- General / EWS – 40 years
- SC / ST / ALC – 45 years
- PwBD – 50 years
- PwBD belonging to SC / ST / ALC – 55 years
Ex-servicemen receive relaxation in accordance with the rules. Relaxation claimed against reserved vacancies is not available when applying against an unreserved vacancy.
Application fee
Rs.250 for Unreserved candidates and Rs.200 for reserved category candidates. The fee is non-refundable and non-transferable, and is paid online by credit card, debit card, net banking or UPI; bank charges are borne by the candidate. An application is not considered if the fee is not paid. The Board states that it never asks for any payment other than this application fee.
A candidate applying for more than one category of post must submit a separate application and pay the fee separately for each.
How to apply
Applications are accepted online only through the Board's portal, www.dssrbkargil.in. Applications sent by post, by hand or by e-mail are rejected. The process has two parts – one-time registration using the “New User Registration” link, then applying against the advertised post. Candidates should note the registration number and password, which are needed later to download the admit card.
The advertisement carries the prescribed formats for the domicile, SC/ST/ALC/EWS, PwD, ex-serviceman, OSP and government-servant certificates (Annexures I to XVI). Read the full notice before applying, and do not wait until the closing date.
Pay
Posts carry the pay levels printed in the notice – L-2, L-4 and SL-1 – with allowances as admissible. The level for each post is shown in the position table below.
Selection
Written examination (objective, OMR-based), followed by scrutiny of documents. The Board publishes the answer key after the examination and entertains representations at Rs.100 per question. The examination date, admit card and centre details will be announced on the Board's website; admit cards are downloaded from dssrbkargil.in.
The Board may withdraw or alter the vacancies at the request of the indenting departments. Canvassing in any form disqualifies a candidate.
