Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) 3. KAS Mains Syllabus

The official notification confirms the paper structure Kannada, English, Essay, and General Studies 1 to 4 but the detailed topic-wise syllabus for these Mains papers is not specified in the notification. KPSC publishes this separately at kpsc.kar.nic.in . Candidates preparing for KAS Mains 2026 should verify the exact topic list from that official page once it is published, rather than relying on unofficial sources, since GS paper content can be revised between recruitment cycles.

How to Prepare for KPSC KAS Exam 2026

Start with the official syllabus, not assumptions: Map every Prelims topic listed above to your study plan before picking up any reference book, since Paper II mixes State-specific current affairs with science and mental ability. Build a Karnataka-specific current affairs habit: Since both Paper I (national/international) and Paper II (State importance) test current events, maintain separate daily notes for national and Karnataka-specific developments. Practice negative-marking-aware attempting: With a 0.25 mark deduction per wrong answer, practice full-length mock tests to calibrate which questions to attempt versus skip. Treat General Mental Ability as a scoring section: Since GMA questions are set at SSLC level, regular practice of basic numeracy and data interpretation can secure quick, reliable marks in Paper II. Don't neglect the Kannada/English qualifying papers: A 35% qualifying threshold applies to each Mains language paper independently; failing either bars you from the interview even with a strong GS/Essay score. Track the official Mains syllabus page separately: Since the notification does not detail GS 1-4 topics, bookmark kpsc.kar.nic.in/Syllabus and revisit it once you clear Prelims.
