Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA), Bengaluru invites online applications from eligible Indian citizens for filling up the vacant Residential School Teacher posts in the residual original vacancies (RPC) of the Social Welfare Department, Government of Karnataka, through a competitive examination. Online application last date: 17 September 2026; last date for fee payment: 19 September 2026.

Educational Qualification
- PUC with minimum 50% marks AND two-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed); OR
- PUC with minimum 50% marks AND four-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed); OR
- PUC with minimum 50% marks AND two-year Diploma in Education (Special Education).
- For SC/ST/Category-1 of OBC/PwD candidates: minimum 45% marks in PUC.
- Passed in Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) conducted by Government of Karnataka or Government of India.
Note: Candidates awaiting results of the qualifying examination as on the last date of application are not eligible to apply.
Age Limit (as on last date of application)
- Minimum: 18 years.
- General: 40 years; Category 2A/2B/3A/3B: 43 years; SC/ST/Category-1: 45 years.
- Further relaxations as per Karnataka Civil Services (General Recruitment) Rules, 1977 - e.g., ex-servicemen, widows, displaced persons, census employees, and other categories as prescribed.
Application Fee (online payment only)
- General and 2A/2B/3A/3B: Rs. 750 (Rs. 500 application fee + Rs. 250 processing fee).
- SC/ST/Category-1/Ex-Servicemen/Transgender: Rs. 500 (Rs. 250 + Rs. 250).
- PwD candidates: Rs. 250 (processing fee).
Selection Process / Exam Pattern
- Kannada Language Test: Compulsory (maximum 150 marks; minimum 50 marks to qualify) for candidates not exempted (those who studied Kannada as first/second language in SSLC or higher, or passed a compulsory Kannada test earlier). Marks not counted for merit.
- Paper 1 (100 questions, 100 marks, 2 hours): Current Affairs & General Knowledge, Daily Comprehension, Constitution of India, History of India with special reference to Karnataka, Geography of India with special reference to Karnataka, State & Regional Administration, Rural Development/Panchayat Raj & Rural Cooperative Institutions, Karnataka Economy, Environmental problems & development of Karnataka.
- Paper 2: General Kannada, General English, Computer Knowledge.
- Negative marking: 0.25 marks deducted for each wrong answer.
- Minimum 35% marks required for eligibility in the competitive examination.
