| Essential | Degree in Economics, Master’s in Business Administration or Electrical Engineering from a recognised university. |
| Experience | 10 years in an analogous post. For deputation: long experience in a government-owned power sector/utility/PSU/Commission, or an officer holding an analogous post on a regular basis in Central/State Government, PSU or a Central/State Electricity Regulatory Commission. |
| Contract | Retired Director (Tariff) or officers with tariff-determination experience in generation/transmission/distribution/load dispatch; private-sector candidates need a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering/economics or MBA and 10 years’ analogous experience in regulatory affairs, tariff or commercial functions. |
| Desirable | Tariff module development, commercial analysis, power-sector experience, administrative/establishment matters, litigation and regulatory law. |
